They've done this well, last night I drove on the express way from heaslip rd, to pt wakefield and then onto south rd up to days rd and then home. There was a reasonable amount of traffic on it too. Definitely is a time saver, now I just can't wait for the south rd superway to be finished.

Some photos of the ride on Sunday. Click to view entire photos. The ride went about 2/3 of the way to Gawler then turned around and went back to Port Wakefield road, so some of the shots are of on the way back.

Love the HG(K?) Monaro art work! +1
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Why do some of the overhead signs have rotating blinds like those for the Southern Expressway?
Any clues?

But its another case of the DTEI opening a project up before the damn thing is even finished yet??
I went pass the Gawler Bypass exit last Sunday and surely they havnt completed that section for the "opening day"? What is the speed limit currently for that section.
Cheers.

It's continued around the corner, have a look at the previous page's pictures for another angle that shows the whole thing.RayRichards wrote:Great looking photo of the Monaro! But the what happened to the back end of it?
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
Re: #U/C: Northern Expressway | 22km
Drove on it from Gawler to PWR around noon today.
Impressive but did leave an impression there was a miscalculation with the completion date. The southbound entry from the Gawler bypass is still somewhat incomplete as was part of the cycleway. There was also some drainage works off road, mid-section (80km/hr speed zone).
Signal phasing on PWR was also good with all green lights between the Waterloo Corner intersection and the Salisbury Highway overpass.

I went for a drive up the expressway and back today to get an idea of how much of a time saving it is, a very nice road to drive along. The Port Wakefield bridge is a lot larger than it needs to be, I assume that is to allow for the Northern Connector to attach to the Northern Expressway at some future point?

Yep, I believe there are also plans for a train line too.Nort wrote:I went for a drive up the expressway and back today to get an idea of how much of a time saving it is, a very nice road to drive along.
