The increase to 12 a week from July was annoucned last month, and are fully bookable. This week SQ have increased to 12 flights a week just for the XMAS period. Then they go to 12 a week in the new year until February. By the sounds of it they are doing very well out of Adelaide. I just wonder if they should move a couple of Afternoon departures to morning departures, then it will allow more connections within Asia.Maximus wrote:I understand there are (tentative?) plans to increase the size/capacity of the international departures arrangement, but I couldn't tell you a timeframe. It certainly is bit small at the moment.
Also, confirmation today of Singapore moving to 12 flights per week, up from the current 10.
SIA To Make Network Adjustments In Northern Summer Schedule
18 December 2012 - Singapore Airlines will be increasing frequency to points in Australia, Asia and Europe during the Northern Summer operating season (31 March 2013 – 26 October 2013) to cater to growing demand in select markets.
A fourth daily service will be operated to Melbourne, up from the current three flights per day, while Adelaide flight frequency will increase to 12 per week from 10. The increases will lift to 121 the total number of flights operated to Australia each week by Singapore Airlines and subsidiary SilkAir.

The flight was 98% full I would say.Stefan P wrote:Thanks for the info Norman, their on time performance so far has been good, I thnk 3 flights have landed after 2100, I was EK404 from Dubai-Melbourne via Singapaore in August and it is very silly having one scanner to enter the boarding area for 350 people, I hope that is not the case for any flights that are operated by A380's one scanner for around 500 people.Norman wrote:I was on the flight coming in from Dubai, it was late because there was a sick passenger in Dubai who had to disembark the plane before it took off. It left 30 minutes late. Not surprised to see it leave that late.
Another problem they have is the immigration process for departing travellers. They only have one scanner going into the International section, that is not enough for a plane the size of a Boeing 777, they need to make some changes there because the lineup was massive to get in.
Just out of curiosity what was the load factor on your flight.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Can I ask who these Antarctic flights would be for? Is it toursits, engineers who will be working on the continent, or just a mix of both?
Either way, it's good to see something like this coming from Adelaide Airport

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Is anyone able to enlighten me about the cleaning arrangements at the Airport?
Warning... rant hat on... As much as I admire all the positive developments of the past 5 years, visiting Adelaide Airport yesterday reminded me of something that I frequently try to forget: the toilets there are really quite disgusting. Whilst I'm not much of a fan of their primitive design (i.e. cubicle partitions that provide inadequate privacy, urinals uncomfortably close together, and sinks with no bench space), it's the lack of cleanliness that really bothers me. Wet floors, blocked urinals, dirty sinks and mirrors all seem to be the norm. On the couple of times I've been into a cubicle, the toilet bowl has looked disgusting. My wife also informed me that the 'sanitary disposal bin' in the cubicle she used yesterday had dripped blood stains on it! This is really a very poor impression for visitors, when the rest of the terminal is obviously quite impressive.
Thoughts/insights/experiences?

I think you can often judge how much a business cares for their customer by the cleanliness/standard of their facilities. I must admit my own experience at Adelaide Airport is not so shocking, but plenty of places would do well to maintain a higher standard.

Well, I personally think it's so bad that it is a newsworthy topic, so I'll politely agree to disagree.bm7500 wrote:Hi Maximus, this really isn't a newsworthy topic for this particular thread.

In any case, I'll keep things brief. I emailed the Airport about it this morning (a recommended way to make yourself feel like a whinging 80-year-old pensioner

I 100% agree with the pub comment. They are public toilets, if you want a better restroom then hold it in and wait till you get home or better yet take a piss before you leave your house so you dont feel 'uncomfortably' close to others while taking a piss.bm7500 wrote:Hi Maximus, this really isn't a newsworthy topic for this particular thread.Maximus wrote:Is anyone able to enlighten me about the cleaning arrangements at the Airport?

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! Sure they're public toilets but I've seen better maintained toilets in third world countries! What if someone has a connecting flight from Adelaide? What are those poor people supposed to do!?Stefan wrote:I 100% agree with the pub comment. Which toilet, and what time of the day was this? I've been to the airport a fair few times the past couple of months, haven't seen any major cleanliness issues of the ilk.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Evening all,
It seems Singapore Airlines are getting 1st with their change of schedules, before Qantas change the timing of their Singapore flight from Adelaide.
From April 1st...
SQ279 will arrive at 0815. SQ278 will depart at 1040 (In previous years this flight used to leave at 1140, they have brought it forward 1 hour).
The reason for the change (In my opinion) is Because due to the Qantas-Emirates Alliance, Singapore will not be used as a European transfer hub for Qantas. So in light of this, Qantas will reschedule QF81/82 to co-inside with connections to Asia ports. This means to make it work QF81/82 will be moved to a morning departure to Singapore (around 0840-1000ish).
