All those complaining about the amount spent on bringing AFL into the city should now hang their heads. All of this hotel developement and associated other develpements would not be happening without the stimulus that footy in the CBD has provided.

This is great to see..

In regards to the "Central West" area.. If they all go ahead, within a very short distance we'll have 1 building at approx. 50m (124 Flinders), 3 at approx. 60m (Central, Precinct, Vision), and 3 at approx. 70m (U2, Palladium, and this one). The area will be unrecognisable. Bring it on.

In regards to the hotels.. By the time they all come on line, the RAH, Convention Centre (SA Gov is spending up big on attracting big conferences), and 2 Uni buildings will be done. All will increase the demand for hotel rooms 7 days a week. This is on top of Adelaide Oval crowds, and not to mention the Casino upgrade (not all casino visitors will stay at the actual casino hotel). Maybe the demand for all these new rooms might just be there..

I recognise this city has the demand for hotels, but the hotel market is gradually becoming saturated... Can't this have been apartments or something of the sort?

That being said, a hotel in a building of this size would suite a brand like Hyatt...
So much the better. Plentiful hotel rooms enhance our ability to attract tourists and events (conferences, sporting) to Adelaide.

I like it.
Why are people focusing on the hotel component? There's a residential component too, which is needed in the CBD as much if not more then new hotels.

This was deferred to address a couple of design issues. See attached

The catering school that was located in this building has now relocated, and it appears that the ground floor commercial tenancy in the building next door is being fitted out as what could be a site office.

Maybe this one is progressing and demolition is not too far off?

Hope so. I think this one is a bit of sleeper in terms of attention but I guess we've been spoilt for tower proposals recently. I quite like the clean design of this one and along with U2 a little further up should help extend the canyon effect looking up/down Waymouth street. The view from Light Square in a couple of years could be very, very different than it is today.

I have no news for this one, but there's a few renders and a bit of information on this, the Lester Hotel and the Le Cornu site developments at this website which haven't been posted yet as far as I know:

Would be a bit of a shame if this one disappeared into obscurity. I think it's a fairly nice looking building and looks a fair bit more inviting at street level compared to what's currently there, but of course they need to have an operator locked in.

That is quite nice, particularly the street level activation. Will be a nice change of height if it does eventuate, most of the new buildings around this area are at the 55-60m range. I wonder what the eastern wall looks like though - usually cause for concern when renders avoid illustrating a certain aspect of a development..

Hopefully this one does come to fruition!

I've never heard of intro before. Palladium, Lester Hotel and 157-159 Waymouth street all on the same site.
Is it a website for dead end projects ?

They are architects.

Not up to them if the projects go ahead or not. They get paid so not for them to lose.

Exactly. They're paid to design. Whether a building goes up or not doesn't really bother them, they get to promote their designs either way. Although it does lend some cred if a prospective client sees something they design is actually viable and gets built.

Nice render, BUT with caution. The building next door in Morphett St looks twice as good in that render as it does in real life. Maybe if this building gets up it would look good, but it could equally look slummo. Glossy renders are deceiving. Especially as a render can be designed to catch the light at a specific angle which in reality only occurs for an hour in the day in reality. I'm not camping out in the square all day to catch that moment where the sun bounces off it like that
