Satire and parody can do a good job of shining light on things taken for granted.

So often drivers in Adelaide complain about the CBD traffic that it is taken for granted that more needs to be done for road users in the CBD, without it being considered that the reason for the problem is that it is so easy to drive into and park in the CBD.

Sorry I don't understand, do you mean that road users want more carparks in the city?

Do you think it's a good idea then?

Not at all a good idea. CBD road traffic is about as perfect an example of induced demand you can get. The easier it is made to drive into and through the CBD the more people will do it.

What about if we could also have a double use for the carparklands, like the world's biggest drive in cinema? 8)
*Looks at Dyson Airblade Factory* "I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure"

The easier it is, the harder it is. The harder it is, the easier it is.

Makes sense to me.

Drive In Cinemas are so underrated. If done with the right marketting, they could honestly turn out fantastic. If they replaced that pesky Memorial Torrens Parade Ground with a Drive-in Cinema, big bucks would come.

How tacky. No.

Due to Adelaide being the most car-relient city in Australia, I came up with a plan to deter all those hideous multi-storey carpark proposals yet keep people's demands for personal transport satisfied.

Why don't we just turn this: :?
Image

Into this:
Image

Pro's:
Instead of having crappy polluted railyards, we could have a carpark
Instead of having a polluted fake river, we could have somewhere to park
Instead of having a run-down oval, we could park our cars somewhere
Instead of having a dilapidated racecourse, we could keep our cars at bay
Instead of having dry grass, we could have some warm asphalt to place our cars on
Instead of having dangerous tree's hanging above us, we could have some nice cars placed safely on the ground
Instead of having inner-city traffic problems, the car's would all be on the outskirts

Con's:
It'd be a little bit controversial.

I know this is a bit of an "out of this world" idea, but I'm thinking of the future for our beautiful city.
Hey everyone, with Festival Tower #2 taking public land, I thought it would be appropriate to revive my original vision idea of our own Adelaide Carparkland. Slowly becoming reality :) Seems like a lot of people would like it though. It would make parking a lot easier in the city as well.
