I doubt that Santos would be moving into this one, they have their own newish building (granted, they did run out of space), but then have also taken up a chunk of the People's Choice building next door.

Can also cross OZminerals off the list, as they've recently announced a move from Parkside to the Adelaide Airport business district.

Height is height, seriously get over it. If there isn't a demand for premium office space in the city then why should they build more than what is required?

I am sure it has lost height, but losing 4 floors doesn't mean the building must now be shorter. Maybe the floors just have higher ceilings for a premium look?

I'd much rather see an interesting short building than a boring tall one (unfortunately it appears we are getting neither).

Really if you look at Federation Square as one example of what they are trying to do here then having any building be too over-bearing would actually be detrimental to the site.

Patrick, I think you need to get over your distaste of SA forum members preferring higher buildings.

Before anyone gets too worried about the height cut, the plans submitted to the DAC indicated that the building is 25 + Ground Floor & Rooftop Plant.

Also on the topic of resource companies it could either be Santos, BHP, Beach Energy or an interstate company relocating.

Calm down. There has been no reduction in height.

Re height - the original post (Nov 16) refers to 40,000 sq meters of space. The most recent article again refers to 40,000 sq meters.

Could be lazy reporting or it could be as previous poster suggests - IE no change.

It's normal for media to get confused about number of storeys. Even within design teams you'll have some people quoting the actual number of levels and others quoting the number attributed to the top habitable floor. Typical mixed use or office building will have ground, plus mezzanine, plus a plant level at the top. So for example the top habitable level might be called Level 10, but there are actually 13 levels (excluding basement). There has been no significant change to Festival Tower height (plus or minus a few hundred mm as design develops, not loss of 4 floors).

I thought this building has been UC all this time. Looking at the site plan, the underground car park spans basically the whole site. Car Park UC means tower UC.

I hope this turns out to be a little more sleek than the renders. Though with our render to final product ratio this last few years, I won't hold my breath. Not a bad design though.

40,000 sq metres is a lot of office space. Think the ATO building on Franklin and the Westpac building and you'll get the idea.
