Very speedy assessment and approval process. Looking forward to seeing the trio of this, Realm and Adelaidean go up all at once, a bit surreal to fathom!

I loathe the fact the Advertiser is calling it the twin towers. It's just a bad analogy, and completely overlooks that they are actually two separate developments.
It's crazy how different this side of the city will look in 4 years time looking down from Norton Summit.

The Adelaide Twin Towers sits perfect with me. Surely the 2 companies can come to some sort of agreement. They could be tourist attractions.

Yup, going to be great to watch.

Totally agree, not only that but it comes off as quite cringe worthy trying to make that sort of comparison since these are still tiny compared to international skyscrapers.

Curious to see what they will call One North Terrace (in case that isn't really dead...), Twin Towers, Part 2

I wonder how much of the additional SUPPLY and DEMAND for apartments in the East End is due to the extension of the tram line? Pretty significant me thinks.

Which is why a key priority should be plan and build the city tram loop connecting all major CBD precincts within the first term of the Liberal Government.

I truly believe it will make the CBD boom, especially for apartment living.

Cool news but if there's any "twin towers" here, isn't that already Realm and Adelaidean?

Is "twin towers" specific enough, when it's generally regarded in Adelaide that anything over 4 levels is a "tower"?

Whilst I'm all for the city loop, even the pro tram labor government only managed about 1k of extension in its last term. Completion of the loop would require hundreds of millions, and a political will that just does not exist. I think the apartments might come first, creating pressure for the tram connections... eventually.

State Labor + Federal Labor in lockstep would have found the $$$.

Liberal + Liberal = not a hope in hell.

Apparently the tram line to North Adelaide is eligible for federal funding. There is a $10b rail fund which will probably be released in the next federal budget.

Not to get too far off topic but considering that $10b rail fund in the next federal budget has already seen $5b allocated to a Melbourne airport rail link, I'd doubt that Adelaide will receive too much (if any) of that pie. The only movement in this area will come will be from a Labor federal government.

I noted that the federal government pinned back to the Vic government that it has $2b from the sale of its share of the Snowy Mountains Scheme that it is expected to throw in (plus other money).

Perhaps SA will get the funds for electrifying the rest of the Gawler Line. I expect some will also go to the Melbourne-Brisbane inland route. Maybe the new SA government will get its ducks lined up to get funding for removing more of the standard gauge level crossings, if that is in scope for this fund.

edit: [[OOPS - how do I move this to a more appropriate thread!? ]]

I'm hardly the skyline police, I believe that developers should be able to build wherever the rules allow them.

BUT.... it's kinda a shame that our 4th tallest building is being built only metres from our new tallest. This building on say, Grenfell Street, would've been perfect.

A good problem I guess, but hoping it doesn't look too lopsided when completed. Hopefully though it's just the start of big change for our outdated skyline.

I dont have a problem with its proximity. Adelaide's known for being a lot denser in its CBD then a lot of cities. In the long term (with more proposals on the way), this is only a piece of the puzzle.
