Really? When did Tiger quit the route?
Why isn't Jakarta a market suited to Adelaide?
And what about Surabaya or Yogyakarta? KUL-ADL flights are currently likely to fly over the latter anyway.
See this link: Australia's Tigerair abruptly quits Bali flights after Indonesia ruling

Jakarta is probably not as touristy as Bali, but it could be for other reasons such as, slots or costs.

Flights to KL regularly fly over Denpasar, Surabaya and Jakarta. Perhaps Yogyakarta’s airport is not the nicest.

For Malindo, this is about getting a piece of the Adelaide-Bali market and vice versa - not really the tag on to KL. The demand from Adelaide to other cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta CGK is tiny, however the Bali market is easily big enough to support two carriers. Jetstar have been very lucky to have a monopoly since the Virgin/Tiger shemozzle a couple of years ago. Jetstar’s load factor on that route is consistently over 90% and in November it was 97% outbound. Then take into account the premium flyers from Adelaide who fly to DPS via the eastern states because they want to fly full service and not Jetstar. The market is big.

Here too several times every year. These numbers should really be foreigners coming and going. They are the ones we want to see more of. We make up the numbers. Anyhow let's get this number growing upwards so more international carriers will think of Adelaide.

That's good, but it's a shame they're not extending any of those Denpasar services to Bangkok.

If you want to go to Thailand, just connect through Melbourne or Singapore.

You could say that about almost any South East Asian destination, but people prefer direct flights, and Bangkok is still conspicuously absent from the list of destinations served directly from Adelaide.

A direct flight, even with a fuel stop in Denpasar, would be significantly faster than detouring via Melbourne or Singapore. It would probably also be much cheaper.

From today, is some one able to post details about this extension being done at Adelaide Airport?
