Permanent overhead signage has now been installed at
Traffic reports already talk about "queuing at the northern end of the North-South Motorway". I have assumed that means both Pym Street and Port River Expressway. If the new bit got the same name, it would include Clovelly Park as well and they could stop having to separately say Southern Expressway.

Traffic reports are adverts that try to get your attention by pretending to include important information. They are not concerned with giving accurate or easy to understand info.SBD wrote: Traffic reports already talk about "queuing at the northern end of the North-South Motorway".
"Queuing at the northern end of the North-South Motorway"... Wow such insight, that is always true for all peak times. Just print out a sticker of that and put it on your dashboard and stop listening to the traffic advert.
Use a GPS system to get accurate traffic reports.

Both options are vastly inferior to google maps. Google has several orders of magnitude more data than everyone else (it collects real time data from every android or google maps user), and a better ability to use it to forecast and capture real time traffic.

By GPS I did mean Google Maps or if you must, TomTom based services like Apple Maps.muzzamo wrote: Both options are vastly inferior to google maps. Google
If you use anything other than Google Maps you have junk traffic data

The Ayliffes Road bridge is open to traffic today. Quite nice. The trench is now South Road traffic only, the surface road also has access to South Road just before the bridge.
Can also confirm the trench is signed “Southern Expressway” at Ayliffes Road.

So Google Maps real-time traffic data is better than Apple Maps? Just asking, I find Apple Maps real time traffic pretty reliable but never tried Google Maps

Those brown poles at Port, Grange and Torrens Road intersections with the surface road...they're getting canopies put over them.
I believe that's why the LMW has been closed during nights while they work on installing them.

The screens to stop rock throwing around the Grange road intersection are already installed and are pretty...industrial.how good is he wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2019 5:37 pmCan only think to maybe stop any potential rock throwing?
People waiting to cross the road will have cover I guess?

I doubt it's to prevent rock throwing - not sure there are many rocks around any of these intersections.
Hopefully they can at least be dressed with a bit of art, or better yet, turned into a green wall.

Maybe not rocks, but people could throw themselves from the bridges.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 10:29 amI doubt it's to prevent rock throwing - not sure there are many rocks around any of these intersections.

Yep - whoever has the most raw data as well as the ability to use it meaningful (data scientists etc) will win this battle by a significant margin. Google has copious amounts of both.
