We're silly. The big dig at the Kaufland site isn't for a basement. It's for soil remediation works.

Kaufland site, corner of Churchill Road and Regency Road
There isn't much construction above the ground yet, but they have finished soil remediation. I'll get a site photo once something more interesting occurs on-site. Happy New Year to all

There's been a lot of pre-cast panels going up for Kaufland.

As posted in the other thread, Kaufland has left the Australian market. Hopefully we will get a better proposal now that integrates better with the train station.

Have been surprised over the past couple of days to see work continuing on this one.
Would’ve thought after the announcement that there would’ve been a stop work order.

When Masters pulled out, the Noarlunga store was nowhere near completion. They continued working on it until it was finished (minus branding). So who's to know when they'll finish up with the Kaufland building.
Looking forward to a free-flowing Adelaide!

I am thinking Woolworths might like the location because its close to their rival Coles which have store on Prospect Road and Churchill Road, plus it means it'll be the first major supermarket coming from Adelaide via Churchill Road. It's closer to residential areas like Dudley Park and there is public transport on its doorstep.

Yes the only thing is the size is about 5 times bigger than a normal Woolworth’s. So if they combined a bigW, Dan Murphy’s etc it could work. I am thinking a bit like their Brickworks or Cumberland Pk centre. However I think the design of the current building may have to be altered considerably. I also think Costco or even Coles could be good candidates for the Kaufland/Le Cornu site. If Coles could get out of their existing leases at Kurralta Park etc they could build their own brand new centre and incorporate K-Mart, Liquorland and even Officeworks.

At the Islington site a combined Woolworths, a small Big W including a furniture and computer section to compete with rival Officeworks. A seamless connection to the railway station and bus stops would be nice too. What's the height limits like in the area to allow a multi storey park n ride next to Islington Station?

As expected, construction continues on this site today despite Kaufland pulling the pin.

Pretty sure construction has well and truly stopped quite a while ago.
Kaufland are looking to sell their sites.

Here's one view of the site, taken today from the train. Mostly dormant, although there has been some minor small crane activity in recent days.

Actually the building is being dismantled. Steel frame has been removed leaving just the precast walls propped up.
