Since there's a lot of these sort of posts going on in the construction threads, I thought it'd be a good idea to give people somewhere more appropriate (and less spammy) to come out lurking in the shadows.

So, uh, to get the ball rolling. I'm Adam, I've been on SSC since 2002 (I was in high school then!). I'm an Economics graduate and currently work for a large super fund as a pleb. I'll be moving to Canberra next month to start a new job with the ABS, and leave my beloved Adelaide behind to go into the big wide world. I've been interested in the urban environment since, well, forever, and I think it's fantastic how things are finally taking off in this town!

Late introduction from me. I'm Andrew, and I have been around Sensational-Adelaide around when it started back around mid-2005. Before then, I had been around the Skyscrapercity forums when it opened in September 2002 which replaced an older Ozscrapers forum which I had been part of since the beginning of 2002. I also lurk around the Railpage forums, but don't post much there.

Currently I am 18 and a 1st year student at the Uni of Adelaide undertaking a double degree in Civil and Structural Engineering with Finance and currently looking around for jobs for engineering students. It's going to be interesting to see what others and myself can contribute to society over the next few years.

I'm currently studying Accounting and IT at Flinders Uni, but am dropping IT as of next year because I lost interest. I'm currently finishing off my first out of three years. I was born in Stuttgart, Germany, home of on of Germany's most expensive public transport systems, although the best for that reason. This is why I love public transport, especially trams/rlight rail, and would like to see something similar in Adelaide (except for the expensive part ).

I've been here for only 6 months, but so far I have loved it here. I hope to contribute more and learn more about our trams and public transport system, and will support any future upgrade to our system. I hope to see Adelaide become a great city, not a monolithic one like Sydney, but one that is unique, yet prosperous.

Guys my name is Peter. I have been on Sensational Adelaide and SSC for about 18 months now.
I fell in love with architecture and the built environment when I studied... architecture at UniSA a fair while ago now. Never actually got a job as an architect (did a short stint as a draftsman) but this design background entered me into the world of furniture design where I studied a diploma in furniture design and worked at JamFactory in the furniture studio for two years.
I thought it was about time that I started making some proper money so I am back at uni finishing my second year of a Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management which I hope will lead me into a job with ASC.
I love Adelaide, been here since I was 15, and have lived in Adelaide (Bent Street Apartments) for the last three years. Nothing would make me happier than seeing our fair city prosper and grow up.

I have a somewhat different pedigree to most other people on here since I started posting on Railpage way back in 2004. I have been a rail fan all my life and soon enough, I expanded using my username 409 into Railsa, Railmedia, U25-Gunzel and a couple of others like U25 Gunzel, no longer exist. I have been arailfan since I saw my first Redhen at Parafield Gardens in 1992 (Thomas the Tank never really did it for me!) and have been interested in light rail since I was 7. I found a couple of links to S-A on railpage one time, followed them and got 'sucked in'. Great to see so many developments around the place. Had I not been here, I would have let them all pass me by.

I have always been a local boy and have always lived in the northern suburbs. For the first two years of my life, I lived in Womma and since 1992, Parafield Gardens. That may explain my love for good ol' Aussie Rock! I am currently wrapping up year 12 and doing reasonably well. I am also currently doing a Cert.1 in Automotive. I have applied to a few places for next year. I may be going in for a Diesel Mechanics Apprenticeship next year with the MTA or going to TAFE to do an Advanced Diploma in Photography or a couple of I.T. courses.

Known as Andrew in some circles but I prefer to go by my nickname Howie which i got in highschool (something to do with my birthname).

Anyhow, 28, a computer programmer / analyst by profession, i did my bachelor in computer science and bachelor of management at UniSA. Like all of you, I love Adelaide, architecture, and progress - which pretty much sums up the site we've created here and why we're all here.

Have worked and studied in the CBD all my adult life thus far, and I would dearly miss it if I had to go elsewhere. In my opinion, there isn't a better place in the world to live or be at the moment... especially with all that's going on, it's hard to keep a track of it all.

Hi guys, my name is Dion and I'm pretty new to these forums. Even though I joined up a while ago after my brothers told me about this site, I only made my first post yesterday. I'm currently finishing off the final year of my degree in pharmacy at UniSA and I am a keen Adelaide United supporter.

I think this website is a great idea.. well done to everyone involved and the members who provide interesting discussion. It's a convenient way to find out about what's happening in our city and to convey your opinion. I am particularly interested in development in the cbd and in rural centres, as well as the current activity in the mining industry.

I hope to be able to make more of a contribution after uni is over, and I must say I'm really excited about the way Adelaide is evolving at the moment.

Born and bred South Australian and very fond of the homeland. I somehow found this site back in 2006 when I was living in London. Whilst in the UK, I was working at Transport for London on their 5 year / 10 billion pound Investment Programme (Approx. AU$28b). (If ever Adelaide needed an outstanding model to base its public transport investment, TfL would be the best example. Unfortunately, unlike most people on here, I have never been to uni and didn't even finish high school. Although things have seemed to work out so far. At the moment I am working with a concrete supplier as a Customer Service Manager.

I had a brief look at SSC, but S-A is purely local and I find it much easier to use (somewhat computer illiterate).

I am really encouraged that there are young people out there that are passionate about Adelaide. It's a great place to live and with you guys contributing, things will only get better.

Found out about this website from BradJC lurked for a bit and joined up the day it was in Samela Harris' column (when she likened Howie to a monkey...

Really had no idea what I wanted to do after I finished year 12 and found myself going into Civil Engineering at Adelaide, although hated it and pulled out. Now do audiovisual in a hotel that overlooks the Vic Square tram stop whilst I figure out what I do with my life! Love keeping up to date with what's changing around Adelaide and would class myself as being pro-development. Was actually thinking of running in the upcoming Federal Election, but due to lack of time and funds I would be willing to part with decided not to. Interestingly whilst it's now too late to enrol to vote, it's not to late to nominate and run for election! (see AEC timetable)

I've always had questions as to who is who etc so I'll put in my part.

I was born in Mt. Gambier way back in 1951 - so a genuine South Aussie. I lived i Adelaide 12 years. I live near Brisbane now (85Km out) am married withh a couple of grown up kids. Became a Christian in 1974. I'm a humanities teacher in a secondary school here. (Ipswich - pop. 136000) I'm in a Christian rock band - play 12 string accoustic and electic lead - blues orientated.Started this in 1967.

I developed a huge interest in SAR from about 1958 - have seen most of Webb's steam locos, the RX's and many others.
Wrote a book about SAR broad gauge steam locos in 1974. Also have seen the old MTT trams in operation.

I also got very interested in Adelaide, architecture, building and construction around 1974 and this has never abated - I've collected a wealth of info on the place, and walked the streets for development from 1974. (thought I was the ONLY one with such an 'odd' interest - or so I was told). Got onto this site Oct.2006. Fantastic!!! Nearly 1000 others with similar interests. Info on the site is remarkable, accurate and from a wealth of creditable sources.

Am designing a CBD development map for the CBD section (to cover ALL proposals, approved and U/C over 10 floors).

ADELAIDE - A CITY ON THE MOVE

I'm Shaun, 19 years old. My main interests are tourism, architecture, music and urban planning

I was born in Alice Springs on the 24th February 1988 and have lived in Burra, East/Southern suburbs of Adelaide, Mildura, Marysville (near Melbourne) and now in Mount Barker.

As everyone would know on here I'm a huge supporter of Adelaide/SA have been for all my life. While I've probably spent the least amount of time here, I have always loved this city. Even way back in the 90s, when we used to go to Adelaide for christmas, I remember going along King William Street or Greenhill Road and getting excited seeing all these tall buildings and anything else in Adelaide back then when I was young (don't think this anymore ).

10 years later after moving to Mildura we moved to Mount Barker (late 2004) which was weird first off but after a while I loved living so close to Adelaide. A few months after we moved here, I caught the bus to town (first time I was in town in at least 10 years) and I was in heaven I remember walking around the streets and looking at all the buildings and seeing things I never knew existed in Adelaide.

I think my love for architecture started with lego, though I used to draw up floor plans for houses, shopping centres, CBDs and towns. Though when I found SSC in 2006 I was in heaven, I remember going through all the SA pages and finding projects I never even heard off. Not long after I got a message from Howie informing me about S-A

Now I'm currently doing Cert 3 in Business Admin at the city tafe which raps up next month, after that I want to move down to Adelaide (probably near Marion) and get a office job in the city and do a few more courses (but probably this time at uni). And go to Darwin next year!

I'm Steve, born in a railway town long enough ago not to put too much detail on the 'net for ID thieves & viagra spammers, who find me anyway. My background is in telecomms, but I have always had an interest in infrastructure of all types from an early age - railways, trams, buses etc & more obscure things like hydrants, stobie poles & signs that often go unnoticed.

Hah, yeah, Lego ruled my childhood. Now there's a store at TTP near my parent's house that sells nothing but lego. If only that was there 10 years earlier! (My parents would disagree...)
