There seems to be some continued minor early works. Mobile crane on site today.
Also, imagine failing so hard at the planning of this project that a rail station isn't even considered as part of it.

Agreed. Both a tram stop near the main entrance and a railway station to the immediate north of the Port Road bridge would ensure that the entirety of ‘BioMed City’ is easily accessible from all directions.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:26 amAlso, imagine failing so hard at the planning of this project that a rail station isn't even considered as part of it.
Adding a train station in that location might be a small challenge, but while both sides of the corridor are vacant and could accomodate widening, it would certainly futureproof this precinct.

The hulking 1950s carpark will make it hard. So dumb.Spotto wrote:Agreed. A train station there would also be amazing useful for events in Bonython Park.

Relocate Mile End station to the hospital location.Spotto wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 11:01 amAgreed. The police horses have been relocated and site clearance has started. I think the cycle safety centre closes in a couple of weeks:

Hang on has a final design been allocated for this project?
[VIS] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital
Probably not, planning approval is just a formality at this point. I'm pretty sure legislation has passed parliament that allows this building to be constructed without hinderance.

Finalised renders of the new women’s and Children’s Hospital have been released and construction is now allegedly underway. I like it. It looks cohesive and modern in my opinion.

Guess they could add a green wall with plants on the car park? similar to Adelaide Oval's western stand..
Ground was broken on Tuesday morning for $306m worth of early works on the hospital’s 1300-space car park and a two-storey central energy facility.
What is this two storey central energy facility? I assume its related to the second quote? The new hospital will be the first 100 per cent electric public hospital in South Australia.
This is important, which the alternative that some people thought was a better option across the road on the new market site wouldn't allow for without property acquisition. The new site will provide room for both the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital to expand in the future.
Does this address the theory that people will be put in ambulances or wheeled down the road to the RAH?It will also benefit from a four-bed integrated Intensive Care Unit for women, co-located with the Paediatric ICU enabling women requiring high-level care to remain at the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, rather than being transported to the RAH.
