Shuz, the cladding is the same the whole way up, what you are seeing in the above pic is the sun shining through the upper levels, the lower levels are in shade. The cladding is consistent the whole way up.Shuz wrote:I don't mind the lower levels of the structure, where they used reflective glass. But on the upper levels, where the facade has started to break up and is setback from the street, it looks a bit distorted. They also opted for the cheaper 'see-through' glass on the upper levels. Not a whole lot of consistency. Is a bit of a disappointing result, as it looks like it came straight out of the books of those behind the City Central development. 5/10

A few finishing touches to Aurora it would appear

Thanks for the pics Adelarch. Good to see the building from a few new angles.
Not all that happy with how it turned out tbh (especially up against the render below). It's no more inspiring than any of the CC towers, which it resembles a little bit too much. It'll looked better coupled with the western tower though, whenever that gets built.

The person who ordered the glass must have been colour blind.

Maybe it was left over from the Myer Centre?AtD wrote:The person who ordered the glass must have been colour blind.
I think this building looks better in person actually.

One of the worst, if not the worst looking building to go up in Adelaide in recent memory.

To be honest I actually like it, looks better in person.
Thats the old renderPants wrote:Thanks for the pics Adelarch. Good to see the building from a few new angles.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and with that in mind, I have to admit that I actually like this building!

Don't forget it was designed to go withthe western tower - this would alter our perception of it. Standing alone it appears as though something is missing - indicated by the western wall.

The render was completely un-realistic. The building looks very different. That said, when they added the brown/copper colour to the western wall, it made the green glass look much better.

This is was the updated render which i think looks quite a lot like the finished product which I quite like too.

I thought there might have been a render out there with greener glass, but the one I posted was still the one used on the building's website, so wasn't so sure.
Still, while the (almost) finished product does resemble the render more closely, it's still a disappointing building IMO. I don't expect architectural miracles every time, but it's just another box with cheap green glass.
I have to admit though, I haven't seen it in person, so should perhaps shut my mouth until I do.

There's a decent chance it won't change your view TBH. There's really no outstanding features that are being obscured in the photos. If people didn't have a keen interest in architecture and new developments they probably wouldn't look twice.Pants wrote: I have to admit though, I haven't seen it in person, so should perhaps shut my mouth until I do.
I'm glad it's been built and don't vehemently dislike anything about it but I expected it would look a little 'flusher, slicker, sharper'. It certainly needs it's twin completed ASAP.

Looks alot better in real life.
IMO its just another building. A bit of diversity in the concrete jungle that is Adelaide. The building is neither ugly, nor special
