That's pretty much what these homemaker centres are! I think there good, instead of driving all over the city to find the best deal and barter you just go next door!

I went down for a look yesterday (along with half of Adelaide) and whilst i will reserve my judgement until its finished, one thing that strikes you straight away is the vast areas of un painted concrete on the buildings facade's. It looks very cheap. I hope that this will be painted but signage has already been installed on these walls, so im not so sure that they will be :x

Well, if I was to go there I wouldn't be expecting the Taj Mahal, it's supposed to look basic and all, besides, it's in the suburbs anyway.

Why should a development look 'basic' just because its in the burbs????

It shouldnt look cheap & it should look like the renders (which show it as having the facade's painted). We are only talking about a bit of extra paint here & thats hardly expecting the Taj Mahal! Remember that this is a bulky goods shopping precinct and not a discount variety store!

Did they end up opening a sinful shop in the complex?

Like the one they had in the renders? The dark side in me hopes so

Not yet, but there are plenty of vacant tenancies, so there is always hope

Went to have a look yesterday.

Wish I hadn't! Here's what I found:

- Finished and opened tenancies still with half unpainted bare concrete walls.
- Majority of tenancies not occupied even though centre has been open for a couple of weeks now.
- No directional signage whatsoever within the carpark, so very hard to find any particular retailer you might be looking for.
- The shops I looked at (Harris Scarfe home and JB Hi-Fi) were both way too small for a store in a retail park like this. Tiny in fact.
- No cafes as I thought were originally planned. Only places to eat were a subway and a noodle bar. Not quite what I'd be looking for after a serious session of shopping for my home.
- No customer amenities of any kind, not even toilets as far as I could see.
- Very industrial feel to the whole place. Not at all welcoming.

Could have been so much more. What a pity.

Exactly my thoughts pushbutton. The lack of toilets was absolutely disgraceful... I nearly pee'd myself looking for it (sorry for being so crude).

pushbutton: It sounds like every one of these centres on the planet - cheap and nasty.

What do you expect though? These places are all about $avings for mindless consumerism!

From the advertising during construction I was expecting there would be several al fresco style cafe kiosks where you could relax with a decent coffee and cake.

I was expecting the whole place to be much nicer looking and I thought it went without saying that there'd be decent signage and at the very least toilets!

I was hoping it would be the sort of place you could enjoy a good wonder around even if you weren't necessarily doing any serious shopping. I thought it would be sort of like a Harbourtown but whereas Harbourtown is mostly fashion, this place would be mostly things for the home.

I now see it only as a place I might go to out of nothing other than convenience if there was something available there, which was harder to get from anywhere else nearby. It's certainly not somewhere I'd go just to browse or get inspired, or to soak up the atmosphere. (There isn't any).

It's a big disappointment.

Been to Gepps X today. I did like the new Toys R Us, Harvey Norman & JB Hi-Fi! Other shops are relocating here from other suburbs including Snooze & Barbecues Galore from Modbury. Any others relocating to here? Any buses which go to the HQ? :?

I couldn't find a list of the Gepps X Home HQ shops anywhere online, so I compiled one for my own purposes, based on walking around the site.

Thought I'd post it here for whatever it's worth.

Gepps X Home HQ complex
  • Baby Bunting
  • Barbeques Galore
  • BCF (Boating Camping Fishing)
  • Beacon Lighting
  • Beaumont Tiles factory outlet
  • Carpet Court
  • Classic Timber Furniture
  • Crown Fitness
  • Discount City Carpets
  • Dreamland
  • Everyday Living
  • Forty Winks
  • The Good Guys
  • Harris Scarfe at Home
  • Harvey Norman
  • Homewares Direct
  • Howard's Storage World
  • INSIDE Furniture
  • JB Hifi
  • K in Kitchens
  • Mayne Rugs
  • Mountain Designs
  • Nick Scali
  • Pets Domain
  • SA Lounge Suites
  • Sleep City
  • Sleepy's
  • Snooze
  • Solomons Flooring
  • Spotlight
  • Super A-mart
  • Radio Rentals
  • The Outdoor Furniture Specialists
  • Toy'R'Us & Babies'R'Us
  • Truscotts's Casual Living
There's also a Subway, a couple of cafes, a coffeeshop, and two CashATMs.

There are indeed toilets tucked away at the Main North Rd entrance.

Only a few vacant spaces left for lease, I guess about half a dozen.
