Dusting off this old thread. I wondered past on Tuesday and was shocked when I saw how much has gone on. I don't think many of us go though that little area next to the Grenfell Centre very often.

It looks like the design changed from those friggin awful renders a couple of years ago.
Hopefully they render the old facade with something more imaginative than... paint.
How does the western side look?

I honestly can't remember what this looked like before the redevelopment.

Looks like a block of flats at the moment. Hope it improves a lot more than this.

If im not mistaken tenders for a new transport SA building were meant to be in on the 5th or 6th of Dec (assuming that twin towers and 374 - 400 KWS were the two front runners). Anyone got any news on this... Will, im looking in your general direction...

The Transport SA building is shaped like a giant H and is next to the torrens/linear park bike track and o-bahn. For its size it is hidden away pretty well, and would make a very impressive apartment building in a fantastic location if reconverted.

Unfortunately I have not found or received anything in relation to this. All that I can add is that the state government wants to place Transport SA in the western part of the CBD, and hence 374-400 KWS would not fit the desired location.

Oh now I know which building is SA Transports HQ, I have been by it a few times when I've gone to my friend’s house and we've gone for rides along the bike track. I think the building needs a revamp, it looks like a hospital from the east side (well that's the only side I’ve seen) especially at night with a few empty room lit up with fluorescent globes.

Straight from the horses mouth.....
"City West Is Our Great Place"
The Proposal
DTEI is preparing a business case to consolidate most of DTEI metropolitan office accommodation into a single site within the Adelaide's central business district by the end of January 2010. The proposed site will house up to 1500 staff, with the ground floor providing opportunities for a public face, e.g. Customer Service centre (Services SA), Public Transport Information Centre and Sales Shop for Number Plates (subject to the site). The City West Precinct is the preferred option in line with the Government's goal to regenerate the City West precinct. The precinct is bounded by King William Street, North Terrace, West Terrace and Gouger Street.

That's a lot of new workers to the CBD. By 2010 the CBD will be so much different and busier I can't wait. Most of City Central will be complete by then, inc Spire as well as Cons On Hindmarsh, most of the 5 West Central apartment towers, SA Water ect can't wait!
