We're not expecting it to be prominent though. It's student accommodation - it's not Versailles.

You mean that if the development is ugly as balls, it won't be as problematic as the location isn't as seen as other places, correct?
The only thing is, highrises on twin street are so visible so if it looks like Sir Les Patterson with swine flu, it'll stick out like a sore thumb. It's between two of the most pedestrian orientated streets in the city. That's my new concern.

Yeah that's fair actually - at the street level I can't see much good coming of it. I am keen to see what they are proposing!

It's a small site so I think blank walls are a dead cert. Wait and see I suppose. At least Hines hasn't built anything yet which is certifiably crap.

Even if le Dominateur doesn't get built, this one along with Realm, Adele and the north terrace student building would seal the rebalancing of the skyline to the East.

It will also stand out like a dog's swinger from Hindmarsh square. It'll dominate the square, being twice the height of the nearby Conservatory.

No the issue was the podium.

Was in Hindmarsh Square yesterday and have to say Pikey and HiTouch are correct - viewed from most angles in the western half of the square this building would fill a little "gap" and would be very prominent - with most of its height visible

THis project is hitting the media now, hopefully more details including designs and renders aren’t too far off.

Looks decent, but not sold until we know what material the facade is made from. Also looks taller than 122m at well more than double the height of the ibis.

I like the colour...or lack of as white is not a colour. Even silver at least it will be different from many other planned developments. Many of these slim, finger type buildings will soon make Adelaide look like Hong Kong. Not really of my liking but I guess interesting. As arki said, we'll wait until we know what the cladding is made of. Can't wait the day the old Cox Foys (now housing Kmart) building becomes a monster tallie (perhaps 200metres).
