A SHOPPING centre will be built on the corner of Saints and Main North roads, Salisbury Plain, after Salisbury Council this week voted to apply for rezoning of the site.

The council will now call on the State Government to change the site’s zoning to allow the Remibisi Group to build a retail centre of up to 5500sq m.

Plans for the centre include a Foodland supermarket and at least 12 specialty shops.

The Saints Rd site was chosen over an alternate site on the corner of Park Tce and Main North Rd, Salisbury.

A consultant had previously identified the need for a shopping centre to service residents of nearby Salisbury East and Salisbury Heights.

Well Lightsview is up and going now and from what I've seen it looks Great :D Premium builders such as Scott Salisbury and Medallion homes feature as display homes, a lake is being put in and whilst there are quite a few encumberances they all are designed to ensure a better quality suburb ? I myself are thinking of building a home there, the only thing that I can pick with it is that it will still be Northgate the Suburb not a suburb on it's own! As for new developments blocking views! Well you can say that for any suburb. So for me personally Lightview gets the BIG thumbs up ?

Not sure if The Gateway at Findon has been mentioned before, but a mix of homes from courtyards to apartments has been progressively built next to the
Findon shopping centre - the impression I got was that it is well planned with quality construction ... may not be a TOD, but is well served by shops, transport etc.

Anyone know what is going on here? It's the Stirling exit off the Princes Hwy. Work started ~Oct 2010.

This shopping centre on Unley Rd Malvern is on fire right now. Apparently the fire has spread through the roof of at least 3 shops. Maybe another new development coming soon!

Coincidentally, this centre has been on the market for quite a while. :sly:

Tea Tree Gully has released a Draft Master Plan 2011-2040 for public consultation. Submissions due by the 13th of May, which is the sort of timeline I've come to expect from TTG.

well if the goverment and correctional service had any brains and take into consideration of the inmates familys and relatives they would
build the new prisons out near dry creek plenty of open land out there and less traveling for the relatives to visit there brothers or loves ones
that are in there doing time..

all they think of is that people behind bars are animals and shouldnt be release, well thats how mike rann see's life.

Anyway in regards to yatala and the womens prison they are part historical and should be done simular to what they did with the old pentridge

What really annoys me and thousand of other australians is that the goverment and private owners have no idea about what is historical so there
solution is the easy way. Lets just destroy historical land,buildings or landmarks. what a joke the south australian goverment is

MORE than 140 residences within 5km of the city will be built at a $40 million Allenby Gardens development.

The 3.5ha gated community called Riverside Park will feature 144 dwellings - 60 houses and seven three-storey buildings with 12 apartments each.

The developer, Hayes Family Group, has owned the Moorfield Tce site that backs on to Linear Park since the 1960s.

It was was last used to store equipment associated with the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide but has been largely vacant since the race moved to Melbourne in 1996.

Hayes Family Group spokeswoman Melissa Hayes said the time was right to develop the site.

"Since Adelaide lost the Grand Prix and it's no longer been used as a storage site, we've put a lot of thought into the best uses for the site," she said.

"There aren't many land parcels around so close to town so it's perfect for residential development and that's what (Charles Sturt) council wanted to see happening there."

Ms Hayes said the project would be a good example of urban infill at a time when many new housing developments were sprawling far north, south and east.

Stage 1, with house and land packages starting from $515,000, is expected to be on sale within a month.

Ms Hayes said the council had approved a five-year construction timeline but she expected strong demand to result in its completion within three years.

Housing Industry Association executive director Robert Harding said the development was a step in the right direction if the State Government wanted to achieve its 70 per cent development to 30 per cent greenfield development objective.

Mr Harding said the association supported any Government plan for inner-city development and making use of non-heritage areas.

"Any development of old sites for housing is great for middle-income earners. It's not just high-rise apartments," he said.

He said the development would help those people save money on medical and transportation costs by being close to quality city services.

Minister John Rau proposes Barossa, McLaren Vale development boundaries

NEARLY180,000ha of the McLaren Vale and the Barossa will be protected from urban development.

Mr Rau released maps of the proposed "protection zones" which are designed to form the basis of community consultation until July 22.

"The Barossa and McLaren Vale are unique areas and the State Government will protect their working landscapes, heritage and scenic beauty with legislation," Mr Rau said.

The proposed boundaries of the maps protecting more than 40,000ha in McLaren Vale and 136,000ha in the Barossa will be finalised at the end of this period.

"We're protecting an area bigger than the city of Adelaide will be in 30 years," Mr Rau said.

"I want to hear from the community about how we should best protect these districts, while encouraging a healthy economic future that includes productive agriculture, viticulture and tourism."

"Were asking people to consider such things as whether the boundaries for these districts are in the right place, and what sorts of developments should be allowed, right down to the sort of activities that should or should not be allowed."

However, Mr Rau acknowledged the boundaries "were not set in stone".

"It's not a fait accompli," he said, "it's a proposal".

"We are currently experiencing tremendous growth in South Australia. But this growth must not come at the expense of what we value."
