+1. Other retailers + online shopping would be the key to their demise as they couldnt (or didnt want to) compete with their prices. I dont think the bus lanes would have played any part in Sony shutting up shop.Nathan wrote:The Sony store died years ago, long before the bus lanes. The Scooter Guy wrote:Rural Bank on Grenfell St is now up For Lease. Not sure if it might be relocating to somewhere else.
But those periodic bus lanes are to still blame for punching Sony Centre and Spurling Formal Wear straight in the face!
In just a few years, both Grenfell & King William St will become nothing but one single vacant lot unless the transport authorities get their act together somehow.
Grenfell St is only two lanes on each carriageway and so is King William St (excluding the tram lane).

Also outside of rush hour grenfell isn't that busy anyway - plenty of parking spaces and Uparks etc around the area, not sure how the bus lanes would have made any impact on stores along that route. People have feet you know!

Not only are we embarrassingly having a Chinese knockoff of an international store in our main shopping precinct but they are vandalising the Regent Arcade too. Who approved this and why!!!

Rather the space be left empty then see this cheap knock off store open. It's so tacky and ruins the visual appearance of this beautiful heritage asset.
It's a good question, who the hell did approve this?!

The landlord who wants money after likely trying to get better quality tenants?
Not sure that the ACC can reject a tenant based on what it sells, provided it's not illegal or objectionable in a general sense. As for the signage, it doesn't seem too over the top.
I can't see them lasting long anyway. Hopefully someone better steps in when they're done.

Grenfell 110 is now becoming what will be Adelaide's Only Late Night Supper Club by the name of 'The Propaganda Club', opening in early 2016 in time for the Fringe Festival.

They're *not* Japanese. Read the links previously posted. They're Chinese pretending to be from Japan and they lie about their locations. That flagship store in Ikebekuro they list on their website? It's actually out on an unimportant street in what used to be a small 7-11.floplo wrote:but the Reject shop across the street is just fine....Ben wrote:Not only are we embarrassingly having a Chinese knockoff of an international store in our main shopping precinct but they are vandalising the Regent Arcade too. I went into the shop the other day out of curiosity and it was exactly as expected. Rubbish products including knock-off Duplo and about 1/4 of the store full of grey market Minions merch.
And I don't think the mall is the appropriate location for a Reject Shop either.

I was in there a couple weeks ago and it was fairly underwhelming. Pretty much deserted too, I wonder how long they will be there for...

Hey. Don't knock the Reject Shop. Us Rundle Street locals need cheap alternatives too.Nathan wrote:And I don't think the mall is the appropriate location for a Reject Shop either.
But yeah I went into the Chinese knock off of a Japanese Chinese knock off shop also. Pretty much a load of overpriced tat.
Their one saving grace was that they were playing World Order on my way out.

As previously stated its a Chinese knock off of a Japanese brand.floplo wrote:but the Reject shop across the street is just fine....Ben wrote:Not only are we embarrassingly having a Chinese knockoff of an international store in our main shopping precinct but they are vandalising the Regent Arcade too. The reject shop has its place... underground, and relatively out of site. Not in a heritage listed building with massive frontage to the mall and polluting it with their tacky signage.

There's a note stating that Rural Bank on Grenfell is amalgamating with Bendigo Bank in February.

As a note, Bendigo & Adelaide Bank own Rural Bank and the staff will be relocated to 80 Grenfell Street across the road. The Scooter Guy wrote:There's a note stating that Rural Bank on Grenfell is amalgamating with Bendigo Bank in February.
