New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
I thought some of you guys on here might be interested in this new flight simulator which
has just opened up in North Adelaide. I think its in the Hotel Adelaide building.
It's available to the public however at $175 for half an hour it's very expensive.
Apparently there's a shop there as well where you can buy Boeing Merchandise
from.

Re: New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
Its expensive because its a serious simulator with a cockpit, real controls and
real life graphics. Apparently if you use the simultor to fly in to big cities such
as New York then you can see buildings as you would if you were flying in real life.
If you fly into a smaller city such as Adelaide you would not be able to recognise
the buildings.
It would have been expensive to develop a simulator like this so they have to
charge high prices to cover the development cost.
Anyway they were talking about it on 5AA last night and they said if you drop
by and nobody is using the simulator then you can go inside the cockpit and have
a photo taken. I think they charge $20 for the photo.
I might check it out at some point over the next couple of weeks, but I definitely
won't be using it. $175 for half an hour is too much for me.

Re: New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
I have been looking forward to Flight Experience opening here
The simulator is one step down from the Full Motion Simulators that the airlines use. The 737 cockpit is an exact replica of the real thing and its recognised by CASA. The main difference between this and a Qantas 737 simulator is that there is no physical movement of the cockpit..... that and bout and about 12 million dollars!

Re: New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
I drove past this today. They're not selling much in terms of merchandise but
it all looks very professional.
It will be interesting to see if this is successful, to be honest I don't think
there would be that many people in Adelaide who would pay that much money
for only half an hour.

Re: New Flight Simulator in Adelaide
I think this may be aimed more at corporates than the public.
For example, the company I work for recently sent one of our teams there for a half day "team building" event.
Unfortunately I wasn't included.
Money isn't as big a concern for companies.
