If that's how it works then shouldn't it be ok to knock down the tram barn at the botanic gardens, after all it's just a tram house or how about the epworth building as its just a c or d grade office building.
Just because it isn't pretty or its past use wasn't attractive or interesting doesn't mean it should be denied heritage listing. (Although obviously not everything deserves to be heritage listed)

Some of you guys need to work on linking your quotes properly.
Also Adelaide is a big city (in area) so it's not like we're in dire straights for room and these stables need to be knocked down.

That’s my point. Adelaide has enough room for both heritage and development. Some areas are more suited to one than the other. Some areas incorporate both and that’s not a bad thing. Brougham place is very much a heritage place with elements of development where Citywest, Grenfell, Franklin certainly have heritage elements but are very much CBD development areas.
It shouldn’t be hard for a developer to respect that. Most cities have this (except maybe the Gold Coast).

If the parklands are so important why dont they put it to a vote state wide? Or are they afraid the majority will back this hotel..

7 of 18 sold apparently, so indeed hopefully not far off. The article states construction starts this year but I'd be surprised if it starts before middle next.

I'm not sure if I follow but the 2017 amendments hasn't been approved, but the project is now out for pre-selling. AND construction is expected to start soon (I doubt it'll be this year);

Has this received full development approval at all? Or is there any new amended application lodged?
