Market Square? I can't think of a bigger development in the city since the Myer Centre (excluding nRAH)? Truly transformative.

I'd never heard about this legal drama until now. It sounds like it borders on vexatious.
We're in such desperate need of housing in locations like this that I hope the development can proceed post-haste.

They got rid of the weird pod things that were supposed to be 'open' communal space, so I wonder how they've reimagined that. Agree with the comment about bridging the skyline. It should help make those Frome Street tallies look less out of place. And for Twin Street, as much as I miss the Jade Monk...

It seems like they're only planning two new trees on Frome Street which is disappointing.

Re: News & Discussion: Laneway & Streetscape Projects
Nice pictures Norman, but after 8 months it is still not quite finished. At this rate they average 17 1/2 metres per month. The latest works notification on the project website says there'll be limited works on the site until a delayed shipment of light poles arrives in early June. It's not clear t...

The latest renders had some sort of 'V' motif. But it also looked as though it was supposed to be molded into the precast. Not sure how they intend to create the effect in situ.

I don't know what iteration of the design that is but it's not the one they're building.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 9:45 amIn this render.SRW wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 6:31 pmWhat mural?ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 3:10 pmThat massive blank wall ain't great. I actually think a development on the cinema site (former IMAX and Palace) would be ok as it could be set further back from Rundle Street and better integrate with Ayers House & grounds. The cinemas could relocate to a redeveloped uPark site at the top of Rundle.
The Pellagra proposal sucks.

I thought there was supposed to be some sort of golden gatehouse going in between the GPO and Electra?

This is hilarious although worryingly the Holdfast council appears to be humouring the complaint: "Glenelg seafront residents petition to remove ‘too bright’ mural" on InDaily For reference, the residents are lamenting the loss of this concrete sea wall to a charming mural: https://wp.inda...

Re: Push For Public Transport To Be Free In Australia
My view is that free PT might increase ridership among existing users but wouldn't do much to expand patronage and certainly wouldn't improve services in a way that would attract more people. Indeed, service quality would likely decrease due to forgone revenue and increased costs. Equity issues can ...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
Some people regard all speed limits are unnecessary. It's clear that the people who understand these things have decided there is sufficient reason to change it. They say it will improve safety and reduce crashes, based on modelling and reviews. I guess time will tell if the crash rate changes. I d...

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)
The Premier also brought up the Tarrkarri site (not by name), but did say a lot of work was going on behind the scenes to make sure they got that building right. He wanted it to be of global significance and worth telling friends about and getting on a plane for. There was an article on ABC News On...
