Re: New City Arena

I'm less against this proposal because of spending priorities or the validity of the business case than because I doubt it is the most valuable (environmentally, socially, economically) use of location. If built, we lose both what's currently there and the opportunity for other things. In my opinion...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Absolutely not the 'isthmus'. The second option looks like a more attractive and useable version of the current forecourt, so I support that in lieu of anything more significant. I'm sympathetic to the idea that we do need to protect open space on North Terrace as it keeps the 'parklands' easily acc...

[VIS] Re: 154 Angas Street | ~53m | 15 lvls | Residential

Don't be daft. It's inconvenient but not a death sentence for The Mill. They've brought life a vacant low-grade commercial space; there are many more they can revive. It's all well and good to point out the empty lot across the road, but that's not what the developer owns. More residents is a Good T...

It's a lot more than I thought this interchange would require. The rationale of preventing cars queuing back into the tunnel makes sense, though I'd like to see the modelling that supports this as the solution.

Also, the cinema site on Hindley Street is up for sale. It's a huge allotment, so hopefully a developer snaps it up instead of another pentacostal church...

https://i.imgur.com/P4Q05jwl.jpg It is really sad that that building remains covered over. Also note that Rebel signage is still there. There was a flythrough on 7 News last night: https://twitter.com/7NewsAdelaide/status/1450739312664846336 It's a welcome update, but can't say they've achieved a b...

Such a shame that they deleted the original crown design for this building.

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

It's complete overreach and smacks of sneakiness. Aside the nWCH, none of this has been canvassed previously and departs radically from the established masterplan. Why? What's the vision and how do they justify it over alternatives? The sort of lazy governance I've come to expect from the Liberals. ...

Don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere, but UniSA has taken over the former Night Train building in Light Square and will renovate it to become its Entreprise Hub. More information about its broader capital works re: campus consolidation will probably reach the public domain after October.

I'd prefer to see the cute little Edwardian building currently there done up to whatever this is. And by "done up" it should be having that heinous paint job that it's "done up" with removed. Also appears that the ground floor has been defaced with some renovation (going by goog...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

The next council elections in November 2022 can't come soon enough. Hopefully the conservative faction can be dislodged and someone with real vision is elected Lord Mayor.
