Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

Great news! They must surely be taking the space above too? I wonder if this means Lush is moving?

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

If the photos are where I think they are, the planting schedule indicates that there should be three peppercorn trees (though it's hard to tell if they're following the plans). All the same, leaf drop wouldn't be a surprising condition for mature trees of any species being transplanted.

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

It's sad that Liberal party operatives no longer seem to graduate from StuPol but now infect every institution they inhabit with its same insipid nonsense.

My god the hilton is ugly. The sooner this starts the better.
The Market development won't much change the view you have shown? And I disagree re: the Hilton; it's terrible at podium level, but the tower itself is fine. The GHD/fmr SGIC building is the irredeemably ugly one IMO.

It'd be great to see the heritage service return if/when the network expands.

What a fucking rort and unbelievable let down. The first tower will already diminish this area; a second tower will condemn it.

[PRO] Re: 98-100 North Terrace | 67m | 17 Levels | Little National Hotel

I'm more interested in the restoration of the Metters facade than the tower itself. Most I really hope for from the tower development is that it doesn't detract from the podium. I did a little digging in the state library to get an idea of what it originally looked like. The current windows definit...

I hope they still retain the Metters façade.

[PRO] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

The carpark has apparently been reconfigured in consultation with the ACC. It's now more linearly placed along the railway, but still a substantial incursion into parkland. And beyond that, if they are absolutely committed to that sacrifice, at least make some effort to incorporate the structure int...

Re: New City Arena

The Arena would make quite a nice addition to that backdrop, similar to how the redeveloped Adelaide Oval compliments the River Torrens. Try to remove yourself from two-dimensional thinking. This space isn't static; it's a recovering environment. And that 'backdrop', by all indications, will be raz...

Are these machines repurposable for rail tunnels? If they'll be working on South Rd for two years from 2025, perhaps there's a chance we could plan for a city underground by 2030 too?

Re: New City Arena

And anyway besides, let's stop mischaracterising this as a mere repurposing of so-called 'derelict' land. What's proposed is to build right up to the banks of the river and to forsake 10% of the city's green space. Much will be lost on the right of this vista. IMG_1919.jpg The Arena would make quit...

[APP] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 124m | 38 levels

This has been years in the making, I can't wait to see it start. The confirmation of the upcoming notice follows the unprecedented success of Market Square residential sales, with over 80% sold to waitlist prior to public launch, making it one of the fastest-selling projects in Adelaide. I wonder ho...
