Re: Adelaide languishes in survey of desirable capital cities
TooFar Well said. I made very similar comments in another thread recently. Albeit the wrong thread!! I appreciate the enthusiasm and passion of the young people on this site. Many of them have probably committed to stay in Adelaide and are trying to make a difference through this terrific website. A...

[U/C] Re: #Proposed: 88 O'Connell St (Le Cornu Site) - 6 lvls
Anyone other than Howie and me read Peter Goers column in the Sunday Mail? It was exactly the publicity needed for this ridiculous, farcical stand-off. It has put it back in the public arena again, maybe under the banner of 'The Village Idiots versus 1.1m other SA residents'.

DARWIN DREAMING
I was transferred to Darwin with my employer back in 1983. I met my wife there and my daughter was born there, so it holds a special place in my heart. Have been back in Adelaide for 10 years, but still manage to get back to Darwin almost annually. The population is about double what it was when I f...

[COM] Re: #Approved: Yorke Commercial Campus - 2x10 & 1x8 lvl Offices
C'mon guys let's be realistic, a 15 story building would never have been approved on this site let alone a 30 story building. What it brings to this part of town is some bulk and at least some height to a very 'country town' strip south of Flinders Street. It also should be the catalyst for more dev...

Re: Proposal to Lift CBD Height Restrictions Defeated
OK guys, It's not ALL gloom and doom. If you look at the last 20 years we have crept up from the black stump (24 floors) another 6 floors and stalled there since about 1988. So another 20 will give us 6 above Westpac!. Just think of that!! (VERY scary - what sort of battle will that entail)? But se...

Re: Proposal to Lift CBD Height Restrictions Defeated
This is exactly why the ACC must be removed, and the control over development in the CBD be handed to the State Government. The ACC is still pandering to a small number of voters who reside within the terraces. I have said in another thread that we will come to regret building townhouses in the City...

If Harbo's involved, the winning building will probably be a 2 level townhouse in Halifax Street!!

[COM] Re: #Proposed: 413-427 King William St - 15 lvl 60m
As I said in an earlier post, the height restrictions within the Terraces are absurd. King William Street being our premier boulevard should be allowed to sprout tall imposing buildings like St Georges Terrace in Perth. What we are likely to end up with is a strip of insignificant 10 - 15 story buil...

[CAN] Re: #Approved: Spire Living - 110m, 35 lvls
One has to be seriously concerned that a proposed building of 110 metres in height further south than the Westpac building in the centre of the City needs Airport Authority blessing. If the height restrictions imposed in our City centre by the ACC have anything to do with air safety concerns then we...

[U/C] Re: #Proposed: 88 O'Connell St (Le Cornu Site) - 6 lvls
The City Messenger newspaper is asking for comment on this grossly underwhelming proposal. I have already posted my view at http://www.citymessenger.com.au. Perhaps we need more of our concerned citizens of Adelaide to be heard through in a publication that is read by City residents and workers.
