[APP] Re: Masonic Lodge | 183m | 37 Levels | Mixed Use

The well-spoken @Micbara was on the ABC Radio broadcast today. He said that the previous plans to incorporate a SA history museum component into the building did not receive funding/support from the state government, so instead they have opted to increase the hotel portion of the building. From mem...

I don't think that's the crane pad. Looks like a pad footing with starter bars for columns. Crane pad would be near the front of the site.

I'd like to think this is a bottleneck rather than severe induced demand. I haven't heard what the current design offers to avoid the same thing northbound at Anzac Highway since the flyover was replaced in the design by traffic lights. I assume they're forecasting a lot of the city bound traffic t...

Post on linked in by Auta say they expect to top out in December this year! That is exciting! But in my opinion is unrealistic, or just a lie, however you wanna take it. They are building level 18 at the moment, and they started construction at the beginning of July 2023, so more than a year to get...

Ok my OCD is in overdrive.
Why is there a horizontal strut missing on one of the lower floors?
There's no missing struts. The loads from the upper floors are transferred to the columns via the larger beams just above the driveways to prevent vehicle access being obstructed.

It's got planning approval, but still needs to go through building rules consent before construction commences. The design specifics needs to be refined from the planning lodgment to the detailed design stage (also to get it to a stage where it can be sent out for tender to the Contractors).

He says a lot of stupid things in this, which isn’t surprising: https://www.indaily.com.au/news/adelaide/2024/07/25/minister-slams-door-on-office-block-housing-fix Actually, he isn't wrong in most of his comments here. Most of the old office buildings are not suited to conversion to residential, an...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Do the tracks still go through Kromer Crossing, or did they get covered with bitumen after the line stopped being used? Kromer Crossing has been ripped up and replaced with a roundabout. The line is still in place either side of the crossing though - trains could be reinstated as far as Tanunda wit...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

How much of the original right of way is still there (i.e. not used for walking tracks etc) if they wanted to re-use it for passenger services? The entire right of way including the tracks between Gawler Central and Lyndoch is still in place. Some of the infrastructure (railway crossing lights, sig...

That is what they were discussing. I didnt take it as a knock on the obahn, more the discussion around how they were going to do works given its popularity. I am assuming this is a potential project for after South Rd has finished and the state can get transport funding for another significant piec...

It was broken into a couple of weeks ago - a couple of the doors have been kicked in and the top of the building has been tagged. No photos, but it's pretty noticeable. I noticed this too. The King William Street doors have been kicked in, and the only measures taken have been to put bins in front ...

I walked past earlier today and there's a little drill rig working away out the back. Assume it's for the soil sampling that Micbara mentioned a few posts above.
Geotechnical investigations for the foundation and retaining wall designs, most likely.

[PRO] Re: Festival Plaza Tower 2 | 149m | 38 Levels | Office

Are the covered rectangular 'boxes' on the plaza level the columns for the next building? Yes, those boxes are probably hiding the starter reinforcing bars or bar couplers for the columns intended for those locations. There might be some additional strengthening works required to the existing basem...

Higher ceiling is probably for the plant room above the office/car park levels. Should be all the resi levels from this point onwards.
