Re: SA Lockdown 3.0

Hindsight showing this lockdown probably wasn't completely necessary - at least not in its entirety. Restrictions set for the week will continue to hamper hospitality and community sport, all of which has never been complicit in the spread. This is not a set of restrictions based on history or evide...

The whole Salisbury city centre is a mess that needs a lot of work. I think Salisbury city centre is Adelaide's best pedestrian district. It isn't a good world example, but it is Adelaide's best. John Street is a decent example, but the rest is covered in carparks with limited pedestrian connections.

Park Terrace could be put into a box culvert under the line. Failing that, Skyrail could work: begin around Parafield Gardens station and land north of Commercial Road. This could eliminate multiple crossings, and reopen or create new community connections, such as opportunity for an interchange at ...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

It's pretty simple - cars should be phased out from Currie-Grenfell Streets. (In a dream world, much of the CBD should be pedestrianised.) Eventually, only public transport, emergency and utility vehicles and disability access should be permitted. The Curitiba model won't work because the street is ...

[U/C] Re: [U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

In principle, I would much rather see $10b spent on public transport, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. Imagine how much our city could be positively transformed with this. And then you will still need the motorway, because it has to be said yet again-this motorway is not being built for the b...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

What is the economic, financial, environmental and social cost for not building it? Probably higher than $10b. It is important that the design is correct - or else it will not achieve its objectives, and the massive expenditure will not be justified. In principle, I would much rather see $10b spent ...

Catseyes operate on the same principle as road signs. Have you ever noticed how some road signs seem to get lit up extra brightly by your car headlights? It's due to clever materials engineering that means they reflect a lot of light back in the direction it came from. @rev said "those lit up ...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

As reported earlier this week on 9 News Adelaide the budget includes $45m for the upgrade of Marion and Sir Donald Bradman Drive. Work to start next year. With this amount of money I would expect extra lanes with land acquisition required. Let's see if it's got some of those useless temporary third...

Of all he dumb stuff this government has done, this is one of the dumbest. This is the second train-related project that they've cancelled partway through early works and after preliminary designs have already been drawn up. The Port Dock site had already been cleared and they had to pay to return ...

Here's something interesting from the 2021/22 Budget Commence rollout of new next generation ticket validators across trams and buses (including O-Bahn) that can read MetroCards, credit and debit cards, and bar codes to support a new ticketing system and finalise the business case for next generati...

Hugely disappointing. Let's see if Marshall's rubbish $700m legacy project by the riverbank gets the nod still. Of course it will... Now waiting for a Labor election promise of just lowering the whole lot INCLUDING under Jetty Rd...hmm. Prelim works for the arena are progressing under this budget.....
