So far looks like one of the many county jails you would find in downtowns USA. It is early days but I actually find it oddly insulting that such trash would be not only proposed but approved, on North Terrace no less.

Wow that Crowne Plaza pool looks like a nightmare! Aside from being small and cramped with this going up to the north it must get zero sun for 95% of the day.

Doesn't the old Marrakech Hotel sit between the toilets and the arcade? Looks like it could be disjointed from the rest of the development. I wonder if this is at the request of the developer or if council are just looking to offload the site (given they can't even use the current upper floors).

Funny how incorporating existing heritage into designs leads to more attractive developments. Notice how the podium now has art-deco flair to compliment the existing structure? As long as quality materials are used this will turn out to be a very smart looking building. Meanwhile on Pirie Street, we...

9 news reporting that the the 500 is done for good.
I’d be fine with the news if this government actually entertained the push for Formula E, but that doesn’t look to be happening either.

Worth revisiting the funding issue regarding this tower. The state government for some inexplicable reason, offered favourable loan arrangements to get this over the line. The project is not yet completed and we are in the midst of a global crisis that will have a lasting impact on international tr...

Re: [PRO] St Peters Cathedral [$100 million]
This is a very vague proposal as it stands, I am not sure we need yet another plaza when another is currently under construction 500m down the road and in a much more prominent location at the Festival Centre. Something that the cathedral has needed for years, would be a relatively cheap and quick w...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
We're talking about QANTAS here. They are very shrewd. If they haven't had a reason for direct international flights in the past I doubt they will introduce them anytime soon. Singapore was the only destination (and not even direct), and that was dropped years ago. New Zealand (Auckland or Christch...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
Frankly I think it is disgusting that Qantas doesn't fly international out of Adelaide and far less likely to do so now given current goings on. But what would be the use of having Qantas fly ADL-SIN (aside from making better use of QFF and Qantas Club)? Especially if it means a stop in either Perth...

I was curious from Norman's pic whether the crane has reached the full height of the tower - looks like it may be at or around the height of the final building height now

Re: SA Economy
It isn't WA, Queensland or Tasmania consistently creating companies like Drakes or Coopers it is SA. Not sure if sarcastic? WA has national HQs for Wesfarmers, Seven West, Woodside and QLD Suncorp, BOQ, Virgin Aus etc. But sure, we have Drakes, Coopers and Shahin. I am not saying we don't have some...

I could see it coming down HBR last night. Looks ok, but I was hoping they would light up the 'crown' section in gold since it is quite prominent and would have made more sense in context with the design.

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million
While the tower itself is inoffensive it is obviously not befitting of the site. A bit of curvature would have been nice to give it a point of difference and continuity with the new casino. But at least it will block out the ugliness that has become of 1KWS and Stamford.

It appears it is now 47 homes/businesses and not 20 which will be demolished for this 'upgrade'. Almost 50 properties to be demolished for $98m Portrush and Magill Rd intersection upgrade https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/east-hills/almost-50-properties-to-be-demolished-for-98m-portrush-and-m...
