[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

State government reassessing commitment to $60m Le Cordon Bleu cooking school at Lot Fourteen Plans to move TAFE SA’s cooking school to Lot Fourteen have taken a major hit, with the state government reviewing its commitment. A $60m world-class cooking school planned for Lot Fourteen is in jeopardy,...

Have they not already got in the way? As Adelaide Contemporary, this was a project largely driven by AGSA until the Liberals decided to misrepresent it as a "Labor project" and make it an election issue.

[SWP] Re: Lot 14 (Old RAH Site)

My understanding is the SA Govt has some 40,000+ Aboriginal art pieces/artefacts/sculptures etc they currently own and in storage which effectively is just waiting to be properly showcased. However just because they already own all this "content" it won't preclude it from becoming a white...

The planned $700m indoor arena beside the River Torrens has reignited debate over the railyards A property industry leader and the lord mayor are calling for better...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

It doesn't really say where these new town houses will be. If they are further away from the train station and more towards Chief Street, then I have no problem with that. If they are building town houses next to Bowden Station, that's another thing. The next release to developers, and the townhous...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

Disappointing change in direction from RenewalSA, essentially putting apartment developments in the too-hard basket and switching to lower density townhouse developments. Nightingale apartments sold out in a day. Developers have no problem selling apartments up and down the likes of Churchill Road a...

[U/C] Re: 203 North Terrace | 119m | 35 levels | Student Accom

Am I the only one who doesn’t hate this building? Yes, it is ugly as fuc#, but at least it is somewhat interesting. The architects did more than just design a box and call it a day. It’s shit, but not boring. We have lots of shit AND boring buildings in Adelaide. Nope, not the only one. I completel...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Completely agree Patrick. The State govt. should really step up to offset some of those major projects, if they aren't already. Things like the Torrens Weir (affects all LGAs along the river), the Adelaide Bridge (affects ability to build trams to Nth Adl + beyond), and the Grenfell/Currie corridor...

[APP] Re: 88 O'Connell Street | 63m | 13, 13 and 15 Levels | Mixed Use

Sandy has routinely put through renderings of “re-designs” that look like they come from another era. Still hand-drawn, and either lack detail beyond massing, or stuck in that 90s post-modern/heritage mashup style. I don’t even see how his sketch solves any of the supposed issues he and similar are ...

[APP] Re: 88 O'Connell Street | 63m | 13, 13 and 15 Levels | Mixed Use

And Nathan, it was the DAC that approved the former 15 storey plan, not council. So? You were suggesting that approving the current 15 storey building when there is an 8 storey limit would be unfair to other developers who had to stick to 8 storeys. I was pointing out that this is an exception that...

The last Makris proposal also had a 15 storey hotel component, and that was approved, so not sure anyone is getting hard done by.

[APP] Re: Former LeCornu Redevelopment | Mixed Use

At present there is inadequate public transport and/ or parking and this is unlikely to be improved in the near future. I can't say I've ever had an issue with parking in North Adelaide. The North Adelaide Village normally has plenty of parks, and if not, there's plenty along the likes of Tynte St ...

They're not seriously still going ahead with building a fake beach in the city are they?! Are we not a coastal-living city/country? Adelaide beaches are not that far away from the city either by car or public transport.
City Beach = beach volleyball courts.

[PRO] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

The large carpark in Bonython Park (the old netball courts, near the tram stop) are going regardless — that'll be the location of the moved City Beach. Acquiring the Newmarket site and the surrounding block would have been a better location, with a connection to the nRAH either over or under North T...
