[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

The bike lanes were my first thought too. Why have these super wide footpaths, when the reality is there will be hardly any pedestrians (despite the depiction in the renders), and then a skinny on road bike lane?

[PRO] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

"nRAH is the third most expensive building in the world" bullshit started, when even the slightest bit of research would have shown that to have been false. RAH is currently 28th accrd. to Wikipedia, so very wrong them saying its third. Exactly. And even the Wikipedia list is missing item...

Sigh... Emporis again. Those tables are always missing data, or getting details plain wrong. In a nutshell, what's wrong with the data? They regularly have incorrect data in their database. At one point they even got AUD confused for USD with their nRAH listing. Much like Wikipedia, most of the dat...

Re: Adelaide Oval news and events

Will be interesting to see how this is enforced and managed. If you're required to show your Medicare app to old mate security guard as you go through the turnstiles it could slow entry down dramatically. I wonder if there is some way this could be tied to your ticket and done before the gate? This...

Re: News & Discussion: Cycling

Drivers' month proponent wants car commuters to guide the city’s cycling network - CityMag Some pretty shocking comments coming out of the Team Adelaide faction of Adelaide City Council today… Councillor Jessy Khera, responsible for last year’s contentious drivers’ month, said the council should “e...

I've bought tickets

They had to be in the Western Stand, so I assume reduced capacity?

Yes, eastern stand is out for the season. Bought GA memberships at the fan day on the weekend, and was given a choice between the northern or southern stands.

Re: New City Arena

What Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence. The experts have said time and time again that the arena must be built to save the states entertainment industry or acts will bypass the state. This is an indisputable fact. There is waaaaay more to the "entertainment industry" t...

[PRO] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

I get the argument that the hospital itself needs to be as close to the RAH as possible, but why is acquiring land across North Tce not an option for a carpark that serves both hospitals?

Re: New City Arena

The managing director of Ticketek is hardly an unbiased commentator. It's been established earlier in this thread that the reasons many acts skip Adelaide have nothing to do with the capacity or location of the existing Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and more the peculiarities of the Adelaide market...

Re: New City Arena

If It was to remain in parklands and have events that would be nice : ). Unfortunately for those who wish for that result wouldn't be glad to know that the arena will bring in about 30m per year I believe, so the government might want that instead. You're off by 100%. It would bring in $15m per yea...

Re: New City Arena

tbh the arena will be more economically viable then this, and would bring in more revenue ^^ But I guess this isn't up to us to decide what happens. If you're trying to judge a park on "economic viability" and how much direct revenue it brings in, you're going to have a bad time. If It wa...

No one's been fighting to do anything with the land at all until the proposal for a new arena came about, that's the point. Makes the Crowne next door look unfinished with it's bare concrete floor plates. Yeah, painting the exposed concrete white would really brighten that place up. The renders seemed to suggest it would be so it was disappointing when it didn't get done. My guess it was a last minute cost cutting. If t...

No one's been fighting to do anything with the land at all until the proposal for a new arena came about, that's the point. Untrue. What's that, 10 years old now? Been very quiet since then, and there hasn't been any pressure from the public for the Govt/Council to do more with the derelict land we...
