Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

Are any of those things you mentioned, contributing factors to the constant increase in what consumers are paying for electricity? What other reasons are contributing to it. Governments keep promising they'll do something, but so far we see them doing nothing that is bringing the cost down or at th...

Still running Wed 6:45am... I did notice it last Friday evening, so let's hope it stays that way. Some guys working on the bridge reeling this morning, not sure what they were doing (fixing light strips, prep Deco, etc) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230321/a8654516fb359c8c8c026bff554b430f.jpg ...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

I paid for solar and later a battery. I am about 95% self sufficient other than my system does depend on the main grid being on to work at all. That requirement for the grid to be on is because I didn't want to pay more to gain a feature I don't consider important. Get the right solar/battery syste...

Will be interesting to see what they do with the heritage listed buildings, I believe one of them was the first Commonwealth or Defence building built in SA.
Maybe it's a good opportunity to move the army museum and setup a broader Defence Force museum at Port Adelaide?

It's sad that you are continually so threatened by people having the ability to make choices in lifestyle that don't match up with how you want to live yours. The success of developments such as Bowden shows there is a lot of appetite for that sort of living. There's also plenty of people who would...

I think, more correctly, the majority can't afford to buy anything within the CBD Doubt it. It's cheaper to buy an apartment. But the majority still choose to buy a detached dwelling. The majority of active members of this forum might prefer to live in a shoebox apartment because it suits their lif...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

The 22% increase is going to be an absolutely massive hit to already struggling households. And the recession hasn't even technically hit yet. We're in for a dire couple of years. Is the increase in consumption tariffs or the daily tariff? If it's consumption tariffs, then we're going to see more h...

I find this surprising, considering the current state of the housing market (demand far outstripping supply), and the severe shortage of comparable projects at the ready to build stage. That said, selling out a building with 800+ apartments would be another kettle of fish. To my knowledge it hasn’t...

I'm not sure whether anyone else has seen the new Maritime Combat System Integration Centre (MCSIC) at St Kilda recently? This is an enormous building where they will be integrating full combat system suites prior to being installed onto the ships. It has just been completed and, when at full capab...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

The base supply cost for households is going up like 22%, to $2200~ a year for SA in NSW its going up to$1800~ a year. We're the poorer state but are paying more. Government ministers saying they'll bring it down by $275~ or whatever by the year 2025. How much higher will it go before then? Interest...

If the SA government was smart, they would start creating a nuclear industry in SA that would be able to cash in on the entire Life of Type of the nuclear boats instead of just looking at the glossy sticker price and being happy with that. After all, a large chunk of that reported cost is in-servic...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

Governments stuffed up because the think tanks they rely on to formulate much of their policies stuffed up in their assessments with regards to China for example. We should have selected nuclear subs long ago, and had at least a few operational by now. We should never have selected a French nuclear ...
