It is absolutely bonkers that the developer was permitted to build something with so few and such small windows. Even the Remand center has much bigger windows than this thing. Its bonkers that they've been allowed to build it to begin with. Lets hope the lack of a sufficient amount of windows on t...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Gawler line delayed until [ Insert your best guess ]. They're blaming the recent lockdown. Because....many of the workers are from interstate and OVERSEAS, and they had to return home apparently. Why are we using foreign workers to build infrastructure? Politicians keep telling us, at every media ci...

That's right . Adelaide oval wouldn't have happened without Port , the team that has lost $26m. Inside 10 years. Sent from my SM-A515F using Tapatalk Not sure what a clubs profit/loss has to do with it, but it was Port Adelaide who first flagged a move to Adelaide Oval away from AAMI. The AFL backe...

Citywatcher are you saying i am uneducated? That is a bit shit of you to say. It is my opinion and I am entitled to free speech. Yes it was a turd before but now they are upgrading it to make it less of a turd. Can’t we at least see how it turns out before we say what it is like. I remember people ...

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I don't think either side would have given us the outcome that the wider riverbank precinct truly deserves.
We've heard it all, from Festival Plaza being the new Federation Square to the riverbank being the new Southbank.
There's no master plan for it.

Was there even a government vision or plan for the site besides the usual verbal diarrhoea about world class this, fed square/southbank that?
What other outcome did people honestly expect.

There's good odds it'll turn out cheap looking. Advertiser price tag aside, its a prime location and entry to the city. If anything actually gets built this time. I wouldn't be surprised if there's another 2 or 3 proposals in the coming years before an unimaginative stumpy square box is built. Prob...

And right there in this article is my reason for being somewhat skeptical of the quality of the final product... $72m price tag for two 108m buildings. There's good odds it'll turn out cheap looking. Advertiser price tag aside, its a prime location and entry to the city. If anything actually gets b...

They should convert the Morphett Bridge level of the convention centre into the western concourse for the railway station. I reckon it is doable. Just need to cut out the floor slab to align with the platform ends and put in stairs and escalators and lifts. Bit of an engineering and logistical chal...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

There was a part in SATAG's presentation citing past travel time for SteamRanger services from Adelaide Railway Station to Mount Barker in 47 minutes. It can be done. So a steam train could do it in 47 mins, but a modern diesel electric nearly 1.5? Those guys from 100 years ago would laugh their he...

Skyscrapers aren't going to make Adelaide as relevant as it once may have been.
A thriving and growing economy will do that.
Growing our slice of the national economy will make South Australia more relevant.

It's not illegal to be drunk in a public place, but the Police have the power to take you to, direct quote from the SAHealth site.. the person's home a sobering-up unit a place proclaimed by the Minister a police station. So why doesn't that happen more often? Not just for Aboriginals, but anyone dr...
