Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

The one at the quarries in Highbury was canned. I don't get why it's so expensive compared to batteries. Pumps, turbines and pipes are not that expensive. Summary of costs here: https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_Departments/Parliamentary_Library/pubs/rp/rp2021/AustralianElectric...

The point about one upping was in reference to your initial comment: 'Do you know what's more important then tall shiny buildings? - it came across as both sarcastic and as trying to say 'you're wrong I'm right.' It might well have been misinterpreted but that's how it read. I don't want to speak f...

Do you know what's more important then tall shiny buildings? A bigger & stronger economy. And Perth's economy is twice the size of Adelaide's. Hey Rev, haha,I'm not here to one up anyone mate. I trust you aren't either. Oh he is. Rev is the silver medal of one upping. Second only to Nort. Thank...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

In 2019 ARENA (Australian Renewable Energy Agency) were due to fund a pumped hydro project in South Australia. There were 4 different applicants who applied for start up funding to get their project off their ground. ARENA never announced any funding, the cost of large scale batteries kept falling ...

Re: Riverlea (Buckland Park) | 12,000 dwellings | $3b

Just got an update from Riverlea, latest land release sold out in 10 minutes. Against the opinion of many on here, this estate is extremely popular. Looks like every release gets sold out. https://www.riverlea.com.au/for-sale/ Who said it wouldn't be popular? Indeed many of the big issues are ones ...

Re: #Official Defence Thread

Initial reports last night mentioned Perth. Glad this has been cleared up this morning, and the build will remain here. Would have been a devastating loss to the state had this been moved interstate. We'll see. Remember how much was initially announced as planned for SA in the previous deal that en...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

That's a massive list of questions. I'm happy to do the research on them over the next week or so if in return you are happy to do the same for an equally long list about dealing with the consequences of continued fossil fuel extraction and use.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

As I said above, prove it. You're labelling people who support moving to renewables as greenies. Many of us in this thread support moving to renewables. Therefore many of us in this thread by your definition greenies. I know I don't hold the motivations you assign to greenies, and I've seen nothing...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

All cost and manufacturing aside, as at 5pm SA time.. 5:30 EST .. wind power generation for all states was less than 5%. At the time of day, with the greatest load.. 5% eith SA90% supplied by gas. Vic, NSW and Qld mainly coal. Building more wind turbines will not magically create more generation, r...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

See lots of complaints, but as someone who wants to install solar in the next few years it honestly doesn't seem like a terrible idea. Supply and demand is a thing, and if there's an over-supply of power being fed into the grid where is it meant to go?

Does anyone know if there's a replacement for this development, or another of it's kind that's on the cards for Adelaide?
