[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

Two things about this come as a surprise... 1). naming rights on only one side of the building? 2). Only eight floors? You'd think considering the the alterations to the floorplan to include Flinders own entrance/foyer they'd commit to more of a footprint...

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

A mild attempt at sarcasm but like Burnside we were all hoping things would improve (then cue these sad looking trees) but actually kept getting worse… but hey, I agree, let’s hold out for hope til the very end. The big difference there was that the developer clearly wanted the tree gone to let the...

[U/C] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Why wouldn't it be viable? Ones for tennis, ones for events. Who's saying its not??? A 10,000-15,000 seat stadium at Memorial Drive solely for tennis + the Riverbank Arena would be a colossal waste of resources. 1. It was never going to be 15k seats, the site purely isn't big enough. I they wanted ...

[U/C] Re: Memorial Drive upgrade

Because it's worth building and it's not a band-aid solution. Go and bother someone else with your sarcasm. What is it that you actually want to see, the new arena proposed across the river?.. Or a full blown upgrade of Memorial Drive? Do you think having both would be financially viable for those ...

[PRO] Re: Glen Osmond/Fullarton Road Intersection Upgrade | $35m

Not sure where the $35m allocated toward this project is actually going? Seems to be a lot of minor widening works that won't really solve the problem of congestions, it also doesn't solve the aforementioned issue with cyclist safety. What I also can't comprehend is why they are removing right hand ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

Similarly to how Melbourne use their old fleet of trams, a CBD loop would be the ideal scenario to bringing the H-class back for select services as well as perhaps the Restaurant H-class. And I'm sure in any case, the St. Kilda Tramways Museum would be more than happy to see this happen, regardless ...

Re: New City Arena

What Rev and Patrick say are ignorant and without evidence. The experts have said time and time again that the arena must be built to save the states entertainment industry or acts will bypass the state. This is an indisputable fact. Cameron Hoy, Ticketek Managing Director of Australia has said tha...

Re: New City Arena

If there are a substantial number of shows where the difference between 11,300 seats and 15,000 seats is enough to make them non-viable then let's make the AEC bigger. Bet it could be done for a lot less than 677 million dollars. The AEC can fit in around 7,000-9,000 people for an end stage concert...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Two questions re: all of this. If both tunnels are to be build slightly west of South Road, what of all the thousands of houses they will go under? Surely there are surface level services required for the ongoing use of these tunnels, or is that only for cut and cover-type tunnels? Also, what of the...

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

"Mr Lucas said the redevelopment would finally bring to life a 21-year-old Liberal vision for that area of the Torrens riverbank, which he unveiled as Treasurer in 2000." There is no trace whatsoever of a vision that the Liberals or Lucas unveiled for the Torrens Riverbank in 2000, so I fi...

[VIS] Re: Masonic Lodge | 160m | 39lvls | Mixed Use | NEW TALLEST

I'm glad some people understand what I'm saying. All I want is for the current height limits to be removed. I reiterate there is NO need to go above a maximum of 230m, but there is a demand to reach the 150 - 200 . I'm also glad that the masonic hall lodge will challenge these restrictions. There i...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development

Two concept plans for a potential upgrade of the SA Museum forecourt. Personally I'm not a fan of either concept as neither one addresses the shortage of exhibition space, however if I had to choose one I'd go for the second design that doesn't involve building a structure, why block out the heritag...
