[COM] Re: Holiday Inn Express | Hindley Street | 39m | 11 lvls | Hotel
Looks pretty nice, although I'm not convinced about the eastern wall yet. I'll need to take a look at it in the flesh at some stage. I wonder what they plan to do about that annoying little sliver of the old building facade which still exists between this one and their neighbour? Isn't that little b...

You guys crack me up. Thanks for humouring my ridiculous observation.
Judging by Ser Noit of Loit's photo, it looks like the Gerard and Goodman building still lives. There's a tiny bit of wall attached to the building on the right that they haven't yet demolished for some reason.

Here's one I took from the passenger's seat today. Southern wall of the tower is nearing completion externally, and it looks like they've started doing some noticeable work on the top of the old house.

It's the effort that counts. I also feel a bit self-conscious about workers and more so random pedestrians judging me when taking photos of buildings. Looking forward to this one. It has a high quality design and will make a large impact in such a (currently) flat part of the city, until Two Adelaid...

This is probably going to sound utterly, utterly stupid and ridiculous, but does anyone else see Imperial TIE Fighter wings in the hexagonal-shaped "cracks" in the panels between the circles? They show up best in EBG's picture. You can also sort of see it in the render on the first page. I...

Yeah, this is by far my favourite of the three student accommodations going up. It's quite imposing and to me it looks taller than 68m. That's good because I was a bit worried the building would be a bit too chunky. The precast concrete on this one looks the whitest interestingly enough, even though...

Which buildings are getting demolished? It's a bit of a pain to explain since the area is such a mess of little buildings, but the longitudinal boundaries of the site are the western wall of the Ruthven Mansions building and the eastern wall of that three-storey building painted blue on Austin Stre...

I think I'm no longer somewhat taken in by this and back to disliking it. Why is there that variation in the concrete colour, and why do most of the panels look more grey than white like they're supposed to? If the difference is meant to reduce over time, will the building look more white or grey? I...

Not pretty. Admittedly I'm not sure how much more they can do on such a narrow little site, and it looks like they've put in a little effort breaking up the southern wall, but still. That eastern wall is bad, and will be prominent along that street until something else goes up, which may be a long t...

Nothing too exciting, but I heard an ad on the radio for this development while driving along. Towards the end, I'm not sure the exact wording, but they also something along the lines of construction on this starting next month. Putting aside the possibility that the developers are being overly opti...

Thanks for that! Shame about the Ruthann Mansions, would be a good opportunity to put a centralised air-conditioning system in to remove those air-conditioners on the balconies, also a good opportunity to source more upper market tenants for the ground level. Does this mean that the balconies that ...

So when can we expect work to begin? Weeks? Ben said a page back that Maxcon are going from bohem to here (kind of like Watpac from Central Adelaide to Kodo), so if that's true then this one will probably begin late this year/early next year, depending on how long bohem has left. Surely they'd wait...

Why? If I were to hazard a guess, I would say rev doesn't care for the light brown concrete colour. It is reflective of the whole area prior to the Festival Centre/Plaza upgrade. Coupled with the lack of activation in the vicinity, the brown concreted ground found all over that area was uninviting ...

Thanks for the new perspective! Unihouss is a such a grotty building. That entire intersection is underdone. Obviously we'll be stuck with the car parks for a long time to come, but I would've thought there'd be strong cases for redevelopment of both Citi Arcade and Grottyhouse. True. I can't see U...

Re: Interactive Map of Adelaide CBD Development
I posted these to SkyscraperCity a few weeks ago, but I thought I might post them here. For those of you who haven't seen my post in the Pub, I made a new 3D model of Adelaide and colour-coded each 35m+ building corresponding to the decade in which they were built (Red = Pre-1960s, Pink = 1960s, Ora...
