Money taken from people's bank accounts is not spent on goods and services.
Less goods and services means all kinds of negatives to the economy including less tax.
You can not tax your way to posterity.

Yes - it is better for all parties that her PT use is subsidised because her healthcare and support needs otherwise, would cost more. Generous PT subsidies is one method to distribute wealth to this woman or others that are similar. But it seems a very wide net to cast to help this person. I would ...

A heart warming read on the positive impacts good-quality regional public transport can have, especially when made accessible, affordable and useful. What about a bunch of warning signs and an open pit the width of a bus that a standard car would find difficult to negotiate?

Just noticed Origin and AGL prices for electricity are going down a few percent on the 1st of July instead of up to match inflation or worse.
Not heaps but at least not another up.

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
Is China just building everything as fast as they can to satisfy demand? In China for 2023, 74% of newly installed nameplate generation was wind or solar. Year on year China keeps increasing the total percentage of renewable installations vs fossil fuels. Just not nearly as fast as Australia has. ht...

One trick winds farms have is the sheer quantity of small turbines. If one fails it makes litt...

South Australia also has always had some of the highest prices due to gas and size of network vs consumers. 2009 is when wind start to account for 10% of generation. 2011 wind is 20%. 2016 is when the last coal plant in SA is retured. https://www.aer.gov.au/industry/registers/charts/annual-volume-we...

Don't know about anyone else, but I haven't bought a new vacuum cleaner in at least 10 years. The old Hoover that I got from Godfreys is still going strong. I had 2x Hoover's from Godfrey's. Well I bought 1, that died within 12 months and that got replaced under warranty with a brand new one that d...

Re: SA Economy
I would say Godfrey's actually became more niche as time went on. Excluding themselves from more and more of the vacuum cleaning market.SBD wrote: That is what I meant. The others successfully diversified further out of their niche market to compete with other companies diversifying in to that niche.

Re: SA Economy
Godfrey's somehow got themselves into the position of not selling what people were buying. Eg Dyson and robots. I assume that was Godfrey's wanting more control over price and distribution but major manufacturers deciding they didn't need Godfrey's at all. Mr Dishwasher I am sure started as dishwash...
