Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses

Sorry for the bad picture, but here's a picture of one of the new bus stops - In real life it looks bulkier than the bus stops equipped with real time information, and it's a shame that they did not include any real time info displays with this I'm a little curious. If you have the apps mentioned o...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Aren't they exactly the same as the existing 4000 class units? Promote that the new units have started arriving to give that light at the end of the tunnel for Gawler line users sure, but why are they spending half the press release pretending these are a brand new design as well? Apparently now it...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

It's been nearly a year and that section is still closed? Errrr?. It was closed for roughly 1 week. Interestingly it seems Google Maps still shows it as closed and the route map when you search for a trip shows the bus going via the road between Paradise and Klemzig Not just Google Maps. I was on i...

It has been closed between Klemzig Interchange and Paradise Interchange since Monday mornings incident. The damage to the bus is quite extensive.
Repairs are currently being carried out to the track.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

There's plenty of capacity in a single bus lane if buses aren't stopping. If you leave a 10 second gap between buses, then you can have 600 buses per hour. One lane each way is 1200 per hour, which is enough for Grenfell-Currie St. You mean 360 per hour. I've posted this picture before of Curitiba,...

exciting, but they couldve made right turn onto churchill road an express, youll still have to sit there at the lights
Exactly. I'll never understand why they didn't make that path go under the bridge.

Join up all the basements of buildings along Rundle Mall, and run an O-bahn tunnel with electric buses (to avoid diesel fumes) through them. The shops and arcades already provide natural bridges over the tracks.
I don't think that's how tunnelling works.

Manufactured in Australia at Bombardier’s Dandenong plant (originally owned by Comeng), with a shell based on the locally-designed VLine VLocity trains.
That's unfortunate. They used to be able to manufacture railcars in South Australia.

With the Target gone I wonder how this changes the Aldi plans? Wouldn’t make much sense to build when you have a huge vacant space next door.
It looks like they're putting something there. They're building a new entrance to that site.

Now that Gawler is expanding its a pity we don't have a third track which will allow trains to be express between Gawler and Adelaide.
I assume you meant express with stops only at Elizabeth, Salisbury and Mawson Lakes.

Re: After the North South Corridor..

The next corridor that the State Gov should focus on improving is Tapleys Hill Road. Grade separations: Tapleys Hill/Trimmer Tapleys Hill/Grange Roads Tapleys Hill/Henley Beach Roads Tapleys Hill/Burbridge Roads I couldn't agree more. Journeys between the north-west to the south west shouldn't need...

Drill a tunnel through the hill from the lower arrestor bed on the South Eastern Freeway, to come out on the North South Motorway on the vacant land near Ackland Street, perhaps with incentives for Olympic Industries and Parmalat to find new sites. there aren't many dairies in that part of Adelaide...

Re: News & Discussion: Trams

I understand your concerns. It's what I was getting at when I made my comment. A big concern in Australia is the huge cost in infrastructure projects. For example, tunneling in Melbourne for the East West motorway was about double what the Swiss can tunnel through the Alps for...in bigger tunnels. ...
