Vincent Bigiolli photos from the final week of train services to the old Port Dock station in 1981.
From those photos, the Adelaide platform is east of the Dry Creek platform. Does anyone know why they did that? It would mean the trains would cross one another because Dry Creek is in the east.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

At the very least, buses from Hampstead Road or others that drive along North East Road should be using the O-Bahn tunnel and bus lanes along the ring route instead of driving through North Adelaide. That would save a considerable amount of time. Yes I know there aren't enough O-Bahn equipped buses ...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

There's a huge area available and suitable for light industrial and commercial in and around Dry Creek. It's massive. Close to the port. Close to rail. Close to road corridors. What is the obsession in Adelaide with OBahn? Sure, it works ok in a previously reserved very wide corridor through the NE...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

As others have pointed out, the Keswick Creek corridor is barely wide enough to accommodate a bikeway in most places - let alone alone a double track railway line or O-bahn track. To make space, a lot of compulsory acquisition would need to take place, somewhat offsetting the advantage of using the...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines

In the O-Bahn topic, the discussion is straying over airport topics, so I am just bringing up the airport side of it here, rather than go too far off the O-Bahn subject. In particular, the O-Bahn discussion referred to the poor infrastructure at the airport for buses, and the poor impression it giv...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

Trams on Henley Beach Road or Sir Donald Bradman Drive wouldn't be an improvement on existing bus routes. They would get stuck in traffic and cost more to build than a one track O-Bahn. Trams would likely have dedicated lanes, so they wouldn't get stuck in traffic. That said, we could give buses de...

One thing that's always bothered me about this building is the date is wrong in Roman numerals. 1925 is MCMXXV, but on this building it's MDCCCCXXV. Story from API magazine. Haven’t heard about abseiling idea until now. Adelaide’s newly approved tallest skyscraper set to be abseiling tourist attract...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

Keswick creek also isn't wide enough along a lot of it for more than one lane, so it would either have a relatively low max frequency as the direction swaps over, or would need a bunch of expensive and unpopular land acquisition. Consider that cheap infrastructure is more likely to be built. So a o...

The Flinders Hospital redevelopment means the bus interchange is moving... but not to interface with the railway. Should have been planned together from the outset. https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/about-us/news/news-items/2024/flinders-medical-centre-interchange-changes Hard to understand without ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Frequencies of 30 minutes.....hardly conducive to get people to use public transport. I would prefer to see the Grange line become a spur only, with people transferring at Woodville. Then make Port Dock all stoppers to the city, Outer Harbour express to Woodville. Frequencies count....having a trai...

That's a nice map, but it doesn't explain how hydrogen is getting around between the different sites. If hydrogen isn't moving around, then there isn't much point in setting up hydrogen hubs.

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

So the exit of the tunnel meets with the exit point of the obahn. It would be a bit more satisfying, but would it really save much time? Sure the buses slow a bit once getting onto the road, but they have a dedicated bus lane so would rarely get caught in traffic. Looks to be around 1km between the...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn

I heard somewhere about the obahn being at the end of its lifespan The only thing i can find is an old indaily article from 2013 I assume they'll keep it running until the South Rd upgrade is done and the state has access to more money to rebuild it?
