Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic

Hook turns are one of the worst things about Melbourne, and when I've driven there I've gone out of my way to drive counter clockwise so I don't have to deal with them

Re: News & Discussion: Squares and Parklands

From a traffic perspective option 1 makes sense, I used to drive west along Waymouth to West Tce when leaving my previous job in the CBD, you wouldn't believe how many people ran reds, missed green turn lights, or changed lanes right in front of you mid stream in those multiple light sets across the...

Not sure why people are celebrating this, regardless of their "emotions" connected to a pub. This is a terrible outcome, and sets a terrible precedent. Then again this is South Australia where most people can't see past their own self interests regardless of the bigger costs/negatives dow...

Re: PRO: Marion Road Level Crossing Removal Project | $200m

If they removed all the level crossings then maybe they could step on the gas outside of the shared corridors in the city, like the Luas does with their Citadis 401 and 502s in Dublin

According to the Save the Cranker group, the current operator has a right of return after a maximum 2 years, and has no plans to leave or change anything. The legislation also says that the building must always be a pub, and has a right to operate as a live music venue. The developer might even have...

Would love the know all the details here. At the end of the day it looks like we’ve paid money to not have something we need, being student accom in the Adelaide CBD. JLL just a month or so ago showing a shortage of 2000 beds. There are plenty of lots in the CBD that are either empty, a ground leve...

A lot of double speak and weasel words in that government non-announcement, a cynical man might suggest they're going to announce the development is going ahead and the Cranker will be replaced by a state funded pop-up venue (that will run dry of funding in 2029 after half a dozen single day events ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Exactly. Any tram from the airport to the city is just going to sit in the same traffic that buses do today, there would minimal time savings and little incentive to use them. Any consideration of a tram to the airport longer term should certainly include other options, such as whether it could ext...

The government architect has advised they don't support the proposal in its current form. Amongst a bunch of other issues with configuration, setback, and some design elements, the architect also recommended retaining the entire existing building, not just the facade, and retaining the actual pub it...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure

It's almost like something is leaning on the scales to keep the retail price of electricity to consumers high and climbing, independent of what technology is used to generate it, and that no matter how often someone in government claims something will make it cheaper, the only solution that will act...

Where they merge from 3 to 2 on the ramp up now is where the new section will start, another 800m or so of straightline trench before getting to the cut and cover tunnel entrance underneath the new Celtic Rd overpass (the proper bored tunnel doesn't start until roughly where the big self storage pla...

It also reported David Pisoni as banging on about the North Terrace "right turn". I thought that even the Liberals, in government, buried that idea. It's stupid. When in government, I'm sure they were informed of that by all and sundry. While it's possible, physically, traffic already ban...
