Re: The SA Politics Thread

Our state governor is now going to be on $495,754 per year. In 2021, the governor was on $351,015. A review at the time found it was lower then other state governors. So in a bid to keep up with other state governors, the state Remuneration Tribunal has increase the governors salary by $140,000 in ...

Sounds like any public release of designs for a second tower are a while off: https://www.indaily.com.au/news/2024/02 ... laza-tower
Do we need a second tower?

SkyCity Adelaide will be reopening their original 'Heritage Entrance' on Station Rd from Monday Feb 19, which will be replacing their North Tce entrance. I never even realised the Station Rd entrance had been closed. Is the North Tce entrance is going to be permanently closed? Any word on what’s go...

Also, imagine failing so hard at the planning of this project that a rail station isn't even considered as part of it. Agreed. Both a tram stop near the main entrance and a railway station to the immediate north of the Port Road bridge would ensure that the entirety of ‘BioMed City’ is easily acces...

The massive redevelopment of Event Cinemas is now underway. Vmax cinemas currently being refitted along with a few others with the rest to follow. Gold Class and Candy Bar areas will also be completely gutted and rebuilt in the next year or two. Didn't even know this was happening. Is there more in...

It looks like there was a derailment near Mawson Lakes interchange.

The photo in the article shows an Adelaide Metro railcar, but no where has anyone said that's what struck him. There's also the ARTC track there and goods trains take a lot longer to stop.
An electric AdMet train was involved

Very sad news. But why that particular spot?
The tracks are on a curve and trains are traveling at speed since most don't stop at North Adelaide station. Drivers can't see anything until it's too late.

Next step, I'd like to see this turned into a terminus for trains to Dry Creek as well via the now disused goods line.
Would’ve be easier to convert in future if they hadn’t dumped a load of earth between Russell Street and the mainline junction

From the sounds of it, they are moving interstate... is that reasonable relocation costs? Moving interstate is not a necessity for their business as it managed to operate in Adelaide for so many years. I can understand moving to another location in Adelaide, but getting the government to up their o...

The active crossing at North Adelaide Station is apparently finally operational today. Only took 5 1/2 years and one death.

It’s a shame that the northern end of the concourse is closed off to the platforms. What’s inside that closed space next to the InfoCentre, between the concourse and Platforms 4-9? a hotel basement? Nothing to do with the hotel. This space existed long before. On the concourse side, it’s between th...

I don't think they want people milling around right in front of the turnstiles looking at the screens Respectfully, if they didn’t want people milling about next to the turnstiles then they should’ve put the departure screens in a better location. If you enter from the North Terrace escalator, the ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I don’t think the new departure screens tilt down quite as much as the old ones. Would make it easier to read standing in the concourse if they adjusted the angle down a little more.
