[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

Social Sciences South was refurbished 6-7 years ago. Law & Commerce had teaching spaces refurbished 18 months ago (and is less than 30 years old). They're not coming down anytime soon. Oops, I meant Social Sciences North, SSS is the nice one. I didn’t know Law & Commerce had been rece...

[CAN] Re: Hove Level Crossing Removal | $171m

Is it even plausible for those two level crossings to be deleted by going road over or road under, given the space and terrain? Surely those level crossings will unavoidably remain up until such time as any proposed northern bypass is in operation, and they can stop the passenger line for 12-24 mon...

[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I am thinking medicine as it’s near the big new bio-medical hub. This new building and great CBD location would certainly help also to attract the big paying international students (or their parents). Is medicine also the most “in demand” degree? As I always remember it’s ATAR being ridiculously hi...

Flinders Uni employee here, who's scheduled to move to the city. :) Those who guessed a major expansion of the city presence are correct - the majority of one of the 6 colleges will be moving there. Not saying which one until it's publicly confirmed (I like my job). My bet would be Business, Govern...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Is this the first use of the round taxi symbol? I don’t recall it being included in the redesign announcement. Doesn’t seem to have changed from the previous design.

[CAN] Re: Hove Level Crossing Removal | $171m

Park Terrace in Salisbury needs to be done ASAP. I agree, but how? The freight line means that you cannot have any appreciable vertical displacement of the railway given the short distance (and hence steep gradient) to the rail overpass on Salisbury Highway. The short distance between the railway l...

What about the Marion and Cross Rd tram crossing? Lots of bang for your buck in doing those two crossings at the same time... Those were two of the 31 high risk crossings identified, with the crossings at Morphett Road and Goodwood Road being the other two on the tram line. But I definitely agree.

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

The District Council of Mount Barker will hit 55,000 it's already close to 40,000, an area that extends from Bull Creek to Harrogate. Half of the population is in Mount Barker, the rest spread throughout the council area. A train will only service 35,000 in the District Council of Mount Barker and ...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Spotto – just to clarify, are you suggesting one of these two options? (1) A new rail line following the SEF from the Bridgewater area to Mt Barker removing Verdun, Balhannah, Mt Barker Junction and Littlehampton completely? (2) A new rail line to follow a new Short South M1 route, if so where do y...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Any ideas on getting a line re-established and/or a solution for this situation - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Lofty_railway_station. Would then a big park and ride at say Stirling, Bridgewater etc be a better solution? Mount Lofty station has a decent former rail yard (currently playing hom...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Short term: I propose Bus lane from South Terrace to Greenhill Road, B Light/queue jump at junctions, HV Lane on freeway. Long term: Busway tunnel between City and Glen Osmond, then busway along median of freeway with bus stations at Glen Osmond, Crafers, Stirling, Verdun, Hahndorf There was a guy ...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

My idea behind including Short South as an option for the ARTC line was it's shorter than the 2010 study's Southern Alignment and the GlobeLink study listed Short South as the most feasible of all options explored. Yes, it only investigated a road route, but if a new M1 were to be built along the Sh...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

The line doesn't even go through Hahndorf - after Belair it's just Mount Lofty, Heathfield (gone), Aldgate, Bridgewater (gone), Balhannah, Mount Barker Junction, and Mount Barker. In a reconsituted service I'd argue that Heathfield and Bridgewater stay gone, Balhannah isn't big enough to warrant it...

[PRO] Re: New Womens and Childrens Hospital

A station at the nWCH that's on the city underground loop would make much more sense I'm sorry, but you're making zero sense. Firstly, the city rail tunnel won't be nor should it be a loop. Not only do we not need a loop (our lines are balanced unlike Sydney or Melbourne), direct through-running li...
