Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Buses
This isn't related to what was posted before. But why does the 230 route need 27 minutes from Arndale to stop 2 KW Rd on weekdays from 4PM to 5PM? I have heard of drivers complaining that there is too much time on both sides of Arndale. I noticed a driver on an up one today not exceeding 35-40kph fo...

Regarding Elder Smith Rd, who came up with the genius idea to make the bridge one lane only? During the rail closure, it sometimes took 10-15 minutes to get from the interchange to Salisbury Hwy. Are there any other cities on earth with such narrow minded 'insights'? It would've saved more money if ...

In my opinion, closing Glanville would be asking for trouble. It'd be equivalent to closing Hallett Cove or something. Glanville is the only station in the vicinity of Semaphore Rd. It was poor urban planning which led to the situation of how the suburbs are formed today, and the available services ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I was having another glance at the spacing between stations on the GC line. I was thinking whether or not it may be practical to have North Adelaide and Bowden merged into one station, with a small detour to get it closer to Park Tce. The line would hypothetically curve to the right, with a merged s...

And regarding potential electrification, is there a need for 3 car sets on the Grange line, and Port Dock line (when complete)? It might be wise to order 2 or even 1 car sets to cut down on operational costs. It's unusual seeing a 3 car set doing a run which was a single car, at a time when patronag...

I hope the passengers weren't imprisoned inside the trams for over an hour, in spite of platforms being a block or two away.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
What is the current schedule for deliveries of electric sets? I still haven't noticed 4027 in any form. But 4026 was definitely in service a month ago. How many are planned to be delivered by the end of the year?

This has probably been asked 20000 times by now. But why is there still an intersection for Churchill/Torrens Rd?
Wouldn't it have been sensible to plan an overpass/underpass? Or did the LNP intentionally leave it out, in order to gain votes via a future election promise?

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
As somebody who doesn't drive, and without a dropoff option, I'd say that it would be inconvenient. Living at Hillbank or somewhere in such a situation would not be favourable. I may be amongst the 0.02% who are in the aforementioned category. Seriously, it is unrealistic to expect 100% of adults to...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
I am one for amalgamating stations, and there are numerous examples on the network where this should happen-discussed here over the years in detail, however it cant be done in isolation. Instead of running busses in competition with the trains on long routes directly to the city, once stations are ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Spacings of 2.5km are pretty much the minimum if you want heavy rail. That sort of spacing allows heavy rail to work to its strengths of high speed. Once you get under two kms, that advantage dies off, and light rail starts looking better and better. It's exactly why the Glenelg line conversion fro...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
@Eurostar You're overlooking the fact that the 225 is a feeder most of the time, and provides an indirect route to the city. There is the option to go to Salisbury and switch there. But after dark, it is a gloomy rundown cesspit full of scumbags, with no security. I am not in favour of removing stat...

Re: News & Discussion: O-Bahn
From an unbiased perspective, what is the reasoning behind this suggestion? The DIT won't fund additional services. This is Adelaide, not Sydney, or London. How would you fit it in amongst two services per hour along Golden Grove Rd at night? By having additional J1s, it would cause a cessation of s...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains
Hopefully there's a new timetable once Ovingham reopens. There's a lot of new development in the inner suburbs and 1 tph on weekends is terrible. Also the weekday skip stop is archaic, stations such Munno Para and Womma need higher frequencies because they are close to booming new developments in E...
