as I said before, you'll get homeless people riding around on it all day and night
just like public libraries where they're allowed to sleep in all day and throw their food & trash all over the floor... no matter about hygiene...that's all gone out the window for 'social justice'

Re: Push For Public Transport To Be Free In Australia
Not this again. "Free" PT isn't actually Free, is it, because somebody (the taxpayer) still has to pay for it. While it's a pretty blunt stick to use, charging for PT use is one of the few levers available to balance supply and demand, especially during peak periods where there's a limit ...

Re: News & Discussion: Other Transport Projects
In 1836, a port was essential for a remote new colony. The river was barely navigable all year round before the barrages were installed. Having said that, Governor Hindmarsh preferred Victor Harbor. That would have sufficed till it ran out of space and water, by which time rail technology would hav...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
it goes to the old main street of Port Adelaide where almost nothing happens. Do you assume that will still be the case 50 years from now? I acknowledge that the revitalisation of the Port has always been a bit of a non-starter but in the current climate of housing shortages (which you openly ackno...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
In my opinion Port Adelaide arguably represents one of the state's best opportunities in the near-term for both a commercial hub outside of the CBD and a location for medium-high density housing. Providing the necessary infrastructure now will save time and money doing it retrospectively when the p...

Re: News & Discussion: Roads & Traffic
Fine. On the one hand there is apparently extensive modelling and evidence from crashes to support the change. On the other hand there are those complaining that a drive through this section will take an extra 30 seconds under ideal conditions with this change. On the other other hand there are tho...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
Port Adelaide on any given day is practically a ghost town and its not a PT pivot point either unlike the CBD. There's simply no comparison to be made. In my opinion Port Adelaide arguably represents one of the state's best opportunities in the near-term for both a commercial hub outside of the CBD...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
But arguably pretty important given the gradual shift of the 'centre' of Port from Commercial Road to the waterfront area. Many people argue that Adelaide Railway Station is poorly located on the edge of the city, the same applies here but on a smaller scale. I think in 20 years it will seem perfec...

[U/C] Re: Port Adelaide Dock Spur Line
Croydon is close to the city whereas Port Dock is the end of the line and its a spur line so I assume they're not anticipating a huge amount of patronage. But wasn’t increasing patronage the whole justification for building this spur line? tbh I'm struggling to see the business case for this project
