Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
we could personally invite some prominent SA women to the forum! we already have many prominent South Aussie males in our member base. Have a think - who would you like to invite? Laura Lee? I just thought I'd drop a line to say I would be glad to e-mail Laura Lee at the address George found - if t...

Re: RE: Anticipated drop in international Students Numbers
I'm not too sure if the incidents were internationally reported as more of a Melbourne/Sydney issue, or an Australian issue. Adelaide was mentioned by name (along with Sydney and Melbourne) on my local public radio station as one of the Australian cities to have had these attacks. It was a story fr...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
Interesting posts Shuz. Regarding the first, it is interesting how a website seems to become a place that one feels slightly protective of. It's like a friend that you want the best for :) Regarding the second post. Are you suggesting a SensAd Facebook group? George reads a development blog here in...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
I wonder if there is actually a fair number of women perusing the site, but few actively participating because of perceived blokey-ness in the forums. I don't mean to denigrate the site, because on the whole, it's a very civil, considered-discussion kind of place. Let me stress that: this is a very...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
Well, Queen Anne, I love SensAd and contribute from time to time. I don't think it's too blokey. I'm not a fan of women's mags, fashion and celebrity gossip. SensAd is a great vehicle to keep up to date with what's happening in SA, to share and debate ideas and visions, photos, videos, plans/maps a...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
Advertise - i mean free adverts. We might attract more females by placing comments on women/female related news stories (think online news sites like The Independent Weekly, ABC Online). Something like " don't just post a comment here, make a difference by joining "www.sensational-adelaid...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
I think the reason is the same one as to why there are predominantly blokes on construction sites or engineering degrees. Construction, buildings, towers, cranes....are essentially blokey things. Likewise, if you went to a forum regarding shoes, fashion, and skin-care, I would assume that the major...

Re: Women and SensationalAdelaide
I just realised I haven't even spoken to my own female friends about SensAd! I'm bright, me
I guess that would be a start to getting more women on board - simply getting word out there.

Women and SensationalAdelaide
Hi all, I've been wondering why there is this consistent lack of women on SensAd. Plenty of women seem to make comments on Adelaidenow regarding the kinds of issues we discuss here. So why don't they post here? Is it simply that women don't know about SensAd, or is there more to it than that? Betwee...

Re: CBD Dry-Zone
[ Cr Plumridge is even quoted in this article saying that the dry area was put forward as, '..one of a series of measures intended to assist with the needs of Aboriginal people'. It's so obvious who is the primary target of this dry zone. And I think if people like Sister Janet Mead have issues wit...

Re: The GFC, you should see it over here.
That was interesting chris, thank you for taking the time :) Agriculture is about 1% of our economy and most of that is coporate farming. We actually export a lot of that. It just might seem like there's a lot of foreign stuff depending on seasonality and variety that you will find in stores. No one...

Re: The GFC, you should see it over here.
Nobody will change anything because all the money is getting funneled in by lobbyists to politicians. I'm starting to believe our best days are behind us, I'm afraid. It's time to move on. I'm no expert on these issues so please forgive if this is a silly question, but regarding the way America sho...
