[U/C] Re: Festival Plaza Redevelopment | $800 million

I have this feeling that no matter how many glossy renders they put out, this whole re-development will end up looking nothing like the images portrayed.

I am surprised they have just painted it all white. Considering also it is heritage listed, I would have thought they would have been required to re-point it and highlight the original bluestone etc.

So basically you are saying the Govt will give with one hand if it can get it back with another... at a later stage.

Can you just elaborate what you mean/understand how a road can make a profit? Do you mean a cost/benefit analysis? I am curious do you know how they value/ monetise the economic benefits?

Yes and that 10m a day is doing the lining/building the tunnel at the same time and is based on the hydrogeology and geology for the tunnel [rock etc] for the Metro tunnel in Melbourne. A good read on TBMs is- https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/en ... ng-machine

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Even if its finished in 10 years that's only 1 km a year on average for the 10kms of road... plus the cost of probably $1 billion per km.. something is wrong. TBMs can do 10-15 kms in one year... even allowing 2-3 years to complete it would be fair... but 10 -15 years?

[PRO] Re: Barossa | Oscar Seppeltsfield | 12 Levels

I think that’s the question, whether it is/will become an iconic structure. It’s a very subjective question. Also it’s based on a render and the actual could vary greatly (better or worse). Not sure who the architect is. Possibly if they were using say an internationally recognised company it may gi...

Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development

I think the planners/those approving the developments want the the ground floor “activated” with businesses/retail. I guess what’s the alternative? Just a foyer or a ground floor apartment?

Re: [PRO] St Peters Cathedral [$100 million]

You would realistically think the next tram stop would be in front of AO, so I doubt they would put another stop only 200m away in front of the Cathedral.

The offices are the joint developers HQs - Agostino who owned the Calvary Site (Yorke Motors I think). Not sure if the helicopter pad is for the hospital or the offices?

I think what needs to be highlighted is the Victorian Govt made the GF at the MCG for the next 40 years in 2018 as a condition of a $500m mega-deal for the AFL.

I agree... Is it because we dont have the TBMs, havent the skilled labour for them here and would need to import them in, higher dumping costs of all the excavated soil or anyone have any other ideas why?

Yes you would ideally want developments on the streets/ lots that are North facing for the energy efficiency aspect.

[COM] Re: Adelaide Oval Hotel

I think you are missing my point. There was talk of the Indian cricket team, the Boxing day test or whatever coming to AO [and using the hotel]. Most sports teams/countries/staff/media etc etc would probably need a min. 100 rooms. So there are 138 rooms in total so if the public is free to book any ...

They are advertising an opening special on their website $199 per night from 1 Oct for 4 months. So does that mean any major sports side/country are now unlikely to be coming here to play/stay in that time (if the public are free to book it out)?
