Progress over the last few weeks. The central core looks like it will reach street level in the next week or so & one or two more concrete pours still to happen to finish the basement floor.

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
It would be perfectly feasible for this project to result in a free-flowing motorway along with excellent cycling and pedestrian infrastructure so why shouldn't we aim for just that? I'm sure the cost of putting in world-class cycle paths for the entire stretch of this project between Darlington an...

Sure the international precedents overwhelmingly show that "build it and they will come" is a thing, and that doing so helps keep the roads better for cars that need to use them, and also in the inner west there are a lot of cyclists already, but have you considered that Australia is spec...

I’ve enjoyed using the 15km Marino Rocks Greenway to cycle into the city on occasion. It’s mostly new shared paths running alongside the Seaford Line, feels safe, not too many crossings to navigate and it actually almost joins up with South Road around Edwardstown. From the train I see a decent amo...

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway
Im all for segregated bike lanes. Most cyclists in lycra make their own road rules, so it would be a huge benefit. Let the problems they create be solely confined to a realm affecting them selves and other cyclists only. Why does every road project need to be a cycling route as well? There isn't th...

Already up to $2 billion ... this article from 2018 is looking more and more prescient: As Rev has reported: SA Libs to push ahead with hospital move A new co-located hospital for women and children will be built in Adelaide in line with an election commitment, Premier Steven Marshall says, amid opp...

I'm pretty sure the 'bunker' refers to the rectangular hole / structure at the back. There appeared to be a concrete pour in there this morning - building / thickening the walls I think.

“A massive bunker set to house South Australia’s game-changing proton therapy unit is complete in a landmark step for construction of the $500m Australian Bragg Centre for cancer treatment.” I don’t have access to the full article, but it’s here if anyone does: https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/s...

Re: New City Arena
I'm less against this proposal because of spending priorities or the validity of the business case than because I doubt it is the most valuable (environmentally, socially, economically) use of location. If built, we lose both what's currently there and the opportunity for other things. In my opinio...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
We need an electricity interconnector to Perth. That would be shorter than the Sun Cable and it would enable us to use solar power from WA an hour or two after our sunset. Maybe that will be a future project as part of reaching net-zero carbon. It could have a drop at each community on the way that...

Re: News & Discussion: Electricity Infrastructure
I wonder what the practicality would be of building pumped hydro in the far west of the state. Lots of coastline there with steep drops from land to the sea level. Could the equipment handle salt water? There was one pumped seawater hydro station in operation in Okinawa but it closed a few years ag...

Looking over EBG's photo in the crane thread, I'd suggest there'll only be on crane here. The boom looks long enough to cover the entire site. Yeah, it covers the whole site easily - it actually extends right over into the railyard slightly. It's a little bit disconcerting seeing how much the arm s...

The support crane lowered one of the tower segments down into the worksite late in the afternoon. Not sure if they are going to use it to start building a second tower or they were out of time today & are just storing it overnight down there.
