Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

This article is a few months old, but still just as relevant. http://www.zdnet.com/landline-complaints-surge-nbn-nearly-fault-free-tio-7000022321/ Official complaints about landline telecommunications services surged by 18.3% during the 2012-13 year while NBN customers had “very few” problems with t...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

There was an announcement the Tonsley line will reopen in February 2014, same time as the Seaford extension and presumably the electric trains.

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

If you look on this page you can find the full video of the National Broadband Network Senate Estimates. http://parlview.aph.gov.au/browse.php I've watched the entire 5 1/2 hours of the 28/11/2013 one, a lot of problems brought to the surface in that, the media only cover some of it. For instance th...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

According to a newsletter released by Prospect council, PRO-02 (2500 premises) is going to be build as FTTH and Instructions have been issued for construction. This is in addition to the known PRO-01, and I presume is adjacent. The NBN website is useless at getting more info, as until they actually ...

Re: News & Discussion: National Broadband Network

Lastly, the ongoing costs of copper maintenance... yes, yes yes! This is exactly what I've been exasperatedly saying for months. This tied with the fact that the likely reduction in service is not proportional with the likely reduction in expenditure. Paying 70% of the construction price for 25% of...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

You guys seem to forget that thanks to the previous Federal labor Government and its huge debt, the new Federal Government cannot afford to keep on spending like we would all like them to. Blah, blah, blah. The Federal Liberals agreed to fund any projects already under tender after the election, whi...

crawf I agree with your 100% there, except for one thing. They still aren't a government, as there still has not been a meeting of parliament. That story is an insult to the electrons inconvenienced to bring it to us, to think people will have done to same with paper and coloured dyes. Since when di...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

The Labor plan to do the Torrens section makes far more sense, even if they get as far as bulldozing some properties and undergrounding all the stupid great power poles it will be an improvement. There are serious safety issues on the section of South Road between Port Road and Torrens Road, no such...

Chasers view of the NBN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mH7NVjiXRk Shaun Micallef: Australia's NBN proposals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp5lTcCMmw4 So what is the Liberal logic of doing a cheaper NBN, might have some legs if its about getting back to surplus earlier. [COM] Re: U/C: Goodwood Junction Rail Underpass | $110m

During construction work to replace track running through Goodwood Station, the platform wall on the Eastern most side of the station was undermined. When heavy rain hit the resulting flooding caused a collapse, I've seen pictures, about 10m of concrete wall has fallen over. Looks like a lot more wo...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

I am confused over the budget figures for rail electrification: are they spending $150m to electrify the short 10km distance just Dry Creek in 3 years? and $160m to electrify the longer 30km distance to Noarlunga in just 6 months? no mention of anymore new trains between now and 2016? :? The cost a...

Obsolete? how have you got away with this comment? Don't you know that the fibre is going to last one million years, never need maintenance and will allow for teleportation of commuters in 50 years so we don't have to rebuild South road? The electronics at each end of the fibre is easily repl...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw

If there is a change of government after September, there is almost no chance of this going ahead in the foreseeable future unless the Coalition promises to match it. The Coalition is not making any such promises to date. At this stage, these are merely election promises . Not worth the paper they ...
