[COM] Re: U/C: Adelaide Oval Redevelopment | 53,500 | $545m
On the Southern side we cant be too far away from a visible roof structure appearing. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii77/kaseydutchy/construction%20pictures/Adelaide%20Oval/03June_zps5a65d63c.jpg Yesterday there was another large section behind the southern grand stand that was about ...

Nice shot. Shows how dense that part of the city really can become with another half a dozen towers.Howie wrote:IBIS from another perspective, courtesy of James Hines.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
So let's say they do end up building a trench the whole way, partial tunnel at Thebarton or whatever.. In say 20 or 30 years time after it's complete, would it be technically possible to cover it up entirely and actually create a tunnel, or cover up sections of it to create tunnels? And why would th...

Why would you want tourists to disembark at Victor Harbor, 90 minutes away from Adelaide?Aidan wrote: Why would we want to when we can have one at Victor instead?

[SWP] Re: #PRO: Former RAH Site (Design Competition)
I've got an idea. Why don't they maintain the existing RAH buildings, and lease them out to UNISA, Adelaide Uni, Flinders Uni, and other higher education institutions? Could they convert some of the buildings into student accommodation? Both options will bring in money for the government and help re...

And mono, what's long shore drift? I'm sure with todays technology, where we can build all the marvelous things we have in this world, we could find a way to create a cruise ship terminal at the bay?

Re: The Federal Politics Thread
Leadership ballot is on. Rudd is on tv live now, has just said he will contest it this time. He seems VERY happy at the moment, perhaps a hint that he has the numbers to get over the line and finally we can see the end of the red headed witch? She has promised to quit politics if she loses...WE CAN ...

In other words, what we all knew, the Advertiser was simply wasting resources again to create controversy to lift their bottom line.
Even less surprising is that they did not bother to check their facts before publishing their article.

Re: The SA Politics Thread
I don't disagree it should be referred to as marriage, in the common meaning of the word. The reason I clarified by saying civil services or whatever, with a celebrant, is because I don't think that religious insitutions, like the Catholic Church for example, should be forced by government to accept...

Re: The Federal Politics Thread
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am sure petrol prices bear no relationship with the carbon tax. Plus the bulk of electricity price increases have been because of infrastructure cost increases, not the carbon tax. You have no reason not to be angry, but not everything is the government's fault. I nev...

Re: Glenelg-Kingscote Ferry
A ferry terminal? Moving the cruise ship terminal to Glenelg from Outer Harbor would be better. A much nicer entry to Adelaide for ship-born visitors. Pretty sure that Glenelg is unsuitable for that because the water's not deep enough there. They can dredge a channel so cruise ships can come in, bi...

Talk about thin-skinned; a journo writes an article about a better and cheaper bridge than ours. All energy on this forum is wasted on throwing dirt on the guy who wrote the piece and on his rag. Instead we should learn from it and make sure that we build something outstanding next time. Did you re...

Re: The Federal Politics Thread
But Rev, unless you are a large mining corporation or a producer of carbon pollution, neither of those taxes apply to you. Electricity bills increased as a result of the carbon tax. The cost was passed on to me. Therefore I am pissed off. I'm even more pissed off that petrol's going up. Seems like ...
