Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Airport & Airlines
I guess this kills off any chance of relocating the airport elsewhere basically forever. The new terminal killed that off when it was built. We absolutely should've moved it somewhere else, preferably the salt pans near Port Adelaide, but there's nowhere to move it where one half of the city wouldn...

And where after a few years people won't complain about the noise in the new location.dsriggs wrote:but there's nowhere to move it where one half of the city wouldn't complain about the new location.
One of the things I like about Adelaide is that the airport IS close to me CBD, and not on the outskirts.

Possibly the wrong forum, but I love those airblades.

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
I have some difficulty in imagining what a 'world class' intersection or road duplication might be. Or more precisely, how one could make something extra-ordinary out of something that is quite mundane.

Re: The Advertiser’s days are few
Certainly, people need the news. The problem is that newspapers only provide some of it, and often that is poor quality in Australia. If someone wants balance and fair discussion of both sides of an issue, then reading the Advertiser doesn't provide that. You have to go online to get other views. On...

How many people here are actually qualified or educated(in the relevant fields) to be able to make submissions to community consultations? Why would those experts, qualified and educated, who are paid, take the advice and opinions of members of the public into consideration if they aren't trained a...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
According to the ACC's own figures, less than half of its revenue came from rates. Parking revenue from U-Park (the off street high rise parks) was $30m. approximately. What is of interest in this thread is that this was a jump of $4m. due, according to Council, to people using cars in lieu of train...

Re: U/C: Electrification & Upgrade of the Adelaide Rail Netw
Errr, How did you translate that to English fishinajar? It does not make much sense at all. If you used Google Translate, it is often better to have the original language version as well, as sometimes readers can get a few more words that way. That's the problem with iPads etc and autocorrect, even ...

Hi Metezcan, some good ideas. The problem with the proposal for tolls is that both political parties at State and Federal levels are excellent tacticians, but hopeless strategists. That is, they can grasp that in the short term they will get advantage by proposing one thing, even though in the long ...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport
I guess that nowadays an app that lets you plan your trips better is an integral part of the PT task. It is by no means the most important task, but it is now essential.
It is just so much easier to use PT if you have the right app.

Claybro, I am not saying that we have lost (yet) the ability to do detailed tactical planning. That is, we can do the logistical and design planning to implement projects. In fact, many of the projects undertaken are quite good. So, if we decided to put a tramline down Prospect Road, we could do it....

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Claybro, I have pointed out many times on this site that successive State governments have reduced the planning capacity of our essential infrastructure services to almost nil. The end point for this is that the State has zero capacity to undertake the necessary planning work. Yes, as you have point...

on a brighter note...demolition of properties in the Hindmarsh area, South of Grange road has commenced with several houses going/gone in the last week. Demolition is also picking up pace along the Croydon section, all on the Western side of south road in both areas. This is a critical milestone in...

Claybro, I feel your pain. I am also on record on this forum for pointing out that starting with Dunstan, when the MATS Plan was abandoned/delayed/buggered up, no government of any stripe for the past almost fifty years has come up with an alternative. It is why I made the comment I did a few...
