Re: University of South Australia - Developments and News

I went past the Medical building whilst on the train this afternoon, didn't have a chance to grab any photos.. The western crane is up and the core is progressing upwards around it. Around half a dozen prefab columns have been erected in the North West corner. On the eastern side, the crane base is ...

Re: News & Discussion: Trains

The train is going to the entrance of Flinders Private Hospital, behind a carpark. It's a 5 minute walk to FMC, and not very helpful for people going to most of the Uni. Previous designs have either stopped at the entrance of FMC, or stopped at FMC and the University. I can see why they did it - th...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

My gut feeling is that we could end up with a similar "surprise" for the intersection of South and Ayliffes Road. The concept design has been quite ambiguous regarding this intersection and dropping out of the competitive tender process we could see savings sufficient for the design to in...

Definitely looks like a single track to me. Surely they would duplicate it.. Surely!!

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

I seem to recall the $500-600 million figure being floated previously (quite possibly on this forum) to complete this section. This was before the Torrens Rd extension was announced so presumably this would reduce the cost somewhat..

Re: Adelaide's music scene venues

All bands have to start somewhere, they don't start playing venues such as the Entertainment Centre or Adelaide Oval right away. HQ is an important stepping stone in terms of venue size and capacity. There are a few bands that I have been following for a while. Many first played at small venues (ie:...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide City Council

Carbon neutral is such a misleading term and is thrown around way too nonchalantly. The state government cannot be carbon neutral if it intends to export coal/iron into the future (hint hint...which it does). Just because it is exported overseas does not mean that those carbon emissions simply vani...

Re: 1-8 North Terrace | 82m | 2 x 24 Levels | Apartments

Generally, I agree that live music venues should be protected from residential encroachment. But in many ways, HQ has already been superseded as a live music venue since the opening of the new theatre at the AEC and seemingly now by Fat Controller. I don't think we'll lose out on any tours with its...

That is classic NIMBY whether you agree or not. "I like buildings and development as long as it's not near me or my house" lol unfortunately in regards to your ridiculous comment of why don't people just pick one of the houses that are "always available". The market dictates wha...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

In the plan released about 6 months ago which outlined the construction methods and form of the entire North South Corridor, DPTI spoke about how completed stages would connect with new stages. According to this report, the aim for each stage is for it to finish at grade with the current South Road,...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

I drove northbound through Darlington at about 3.30pm and it appeared that they had one southbound lane closed, with the speed dropped to 25km/h. Southbound traffic was banked up fairly solidly from Sturt Road to just north of Castle Plaza. If this is any indication of what traffic will be like duri...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor

According to a variable message sign located on South Road, major works are commencing at the South/Sturt Rd intersection on the 11th December. There doesn't appear to be any details relating to this on the DPTI website.

Does anyone know what work will be carried out?
