Nice photo. The glazing and that grey colouring makes It look pretty similar to the first stage of the GPO development.

Same. I was initially critical of those white panels, but stand corrected as I think they will blend in really well when this is finished.

Is this the first time in Adelaide we have seen bluestone cottages integrated into a new development? Can't think of any off the top of my head.

15 storeys....so disappointing....was hoping for something around 40.....tall and sleek and slim. I'd rather a realistic 15 storey building that is built in the next 5 years rather than a 40 storey building that stays unbuilt. A 40 storey office tower in this environment, while we have buildings li...

Great view of the Adelaide skyline in the background....thank God you can't actually see Tom's Court! Agreed. I hadn't been down that part of the city for a while, but drove past it today. This thing looks horrific when driving south down King William from Victoria Square. I didn't think anything e...

Such a shame overall that a higher end residential development isn't happening here. Yep. There is certainly an irony that 51 Pirie Street had its heritage protection removed because the 80s additions supposedly butchered it, but then the same planning commission turns around and allows this. Baffl...

Pretty significant downgrade. I'm prepared to bet the farm that we will end up with brown glass too, not sure who they are kidding with the gold.

Perhaps the podium has some brutalist elements (based purely on what I can see in this photo- haven't really followed it other than that), but I wouldn't have said the rest of the building does. I would hate it if this style of building was continually replicated, in fact more than that- I think I w...

Does anyone know if the plan is to paint a couple of murals on those raw concrete walls?

Very good point. Notre Dame was instrumental in revitalising Fremantle during the 90s.

Is it just me or do other people find the reporting on the proposed bus route changes really quite strange in the sense that all the articles focus on the "number of bus stops lost".... No substantive investigation on proposed frequency or cost or efficiency or coverage (I suppose "l...

I don't mind it either. The cladding makes it look a lot less drab than I was expecting, and I think the simplied windows help it.

Disagree with you Nathan. I walk past it regularly and for me it still has good character and appeal at street level. A development on this site could have been an opportunity to correct the botched 80s job and integrate the facade with a much more creative and sympathetic design Even so, it isn't n...

I was never quite comfortable with the idea of demolishing a local heritage place, but consoled myself with the knowledge that what was replacing it, had some good height and was of high architectural quality. The height has now disappeared, and it seems judging from the vibe that the design will a...

Re: News & Discussion: General CBD Development
Not the catalyst development I think most of us were hoping for.... What a joke, surely there are planning regulations that somehow stipulate what is now deemed appropriate use for a CBD site? A lot of people harp on in Adelaide about desire for more development in this city, and by result our plan...
