Re: New Retail in the CBD
I tried the crepe shop today. It was pretty good, but no quite as good as the real deal in Tokyo. As usual with most places labelled "Japanese" in Adelaide, it's not actually Japanese. (According to their business card, the manager's name is Emma Li). Anyways, here's a photo: http://s3.ama...

Re: New Retail in the CBD
There's a new Japanese crepe store that opened on Monday at the King William Street end of the Mall. It's based on the concept that originated from Takeshita Dori in Harajuku, Tokyo. They're currently doing buy 1 get 1 free for the first 3 weeks. Japanese style crepes? I'm already counting the minu...

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I was hoping that the new ticketing system would be used to encourage more public transport usage by offering weekly/monthly and yearly passes, but alas it seems the Government has dropped the ball on that one. Most cities with smartcards offer period tickets like these as they encourage regular pu...

Re: ## General Public Transport thread
I really wish Adelaide Metro would engage some real graphic designers though. That sample card is embarrassing (and sadly, on par for them).
Will be good to see it up and running though. Any idea on whether they've licensed an existing smart card system, or developed their own?

They would be nice, but I think it's a fire exit for the cinema at the end of the lane.arki wrote:Why not open up the laneway at the former Palace Nova entrance to allow for outdoor dining at T2?

Re: New Retail in the CBD
The store looks great, and I like tea... but .... I give them three months. 3 Months? I walked past again today, and it was even busier than yesterday. If opening trade is anything to go by, they're going to do well. And since I took the photo yesterday, they've added some additional cladding aroun...

It's very very dingy, and has a complete lack of excitement that you would expect a toy store to have.

The coloured balconies seriously detract from the building.
The radiating sun pattern at the entrance also doesn't fit. Looks like it belongs on a completely different building.

I dont know what people are complaining about, the interior looks perfectly fine to me. I wish they'd been a lot bolder with the design. Has anyone been to Melbourne Central? That to me, is what a modern shopping centre should be like! To be perfectly honest, Melbourne Central disappoints me, i thi...

I'm quite puzzled at the trolly "need". How often do you buy big screen tvs? I'm sure they can organise delivery if you ask, and all the stores selling such large items would have a loading dock you can pick items up from and load directly in to your car. But given the desire to be in an e...

I got this impression walking through the mall yesterday as well - there is a LOT of empty shops along the mall now. Borders, Dusk, Sanity, Harris Scarfe, Colorado and Book Boys to name just a few. Don't think the high Australian dollar or higher level of household savings than normal are helping. ...

Is the ToysRUs store planning to close?duke wrote:Anyone have any guesses what will go in the area where Toys R Us is after the Adelaide store closes?
I think a K-Mart/BigW would go in there nicely if there was some serious refurbishment.

Old fashioned? How so?
I think it's reasonably ok, if a tad obvious. Certainly better than what a lot of developments get plastered with.
